Kore - I regret to inform you that you do not possess the authority to tell people what they are allowed to find gross, or not.
By that logic, then, we're all allowed to find your attitude gross.
:Y: Lots of people have casual safe sex and it doesn't mean the person has some deep inner flaws. I couldn't be friends with a slut shamer. I will tell my five year old DD years from now to have safe sex and how she chooses to go about it is her life after she's 18. I don't think the only path to her happiness is falling in love and having sex with one person. I think it's perfectly valid and many of my friends fit that mold but I don't need to put any projections on her for what I want her to choose. I'd go so far to say that many one night stands are two evolved adults looking for fun without the emotional connection.
Bliss - I give you a sincere apology for offending you in this thread. it was unfair. Please understand your antics across the boards over the years have been nuts.

Apology fail.
More like a thinly veilied insult couched in "apology" to somehow seem like less of a bitch. Didn't work.
Well tell us who you are and we'll see if we change our minds I understand that one night stands or casual sex aren't for everyone, but there is no need to judge someone who is okay with it. Being vegan doesn't work for me, but I'm not judging those who make it work.
How am I a bitch? Because I shared an opinion? Because I had an opinion of bliss based on years of constant drama and crazy antics? I've never had issues w MM until now, under this new name. Funny how your opinions of me change not knowing who I am.
What was your old name? Did you create a new name to bash MM (Bliss in particular)?

simplify - you make the general public sound very dangerous. I mean you do realize the majority of people in bars are the same people that people date and fall in love with and marry. It isn't like there are just hordes of serial killers and rapist waiting till some girl comes on to them to strike.
Now, I am not saying there aren't people like that, but I feel like you must live in fear of the general population or something.

why don't you re-read your "apology" to Bliss and come back and answer the question. I think you know exactly what you're doing, so quit playing dumb, whoever you are. If you think my opinion was so much higher of you when I didn't know your name than I guess i didn't know the real you.
I jack - We all judge something, whether we realize it or not. I think sex w total strangers is scary and dirty. Others disagree, that's fine. To me though, if I had a friend that was 'into' one night stands, I'd be worried for her, not excited. It is dangerous. So I do judge those people, right or wrong. It seems misguided to me.
As usual, in nestville, people take words out of context, claim you said something you didn't, and gang up. I enjoy debate, and try to keep it clean from my end.
Bliss has been an open book so it shouldn't come as a surprise that some people dislike her, or who she used to be. The lying, drama, idiocy - you name it. It was tiresome and at some point just unbelievable. It's great she's gotten help and improving her life. She was headed no where fast with her previous self.
Can you please tell me how calling the actions of a large number of people dirty and gross, and calling someone on the board low class, fits into your idea of a "clean" debate? You can feel and say whatever you want, but don't start that woe-is-me- everyone-is-ganging-up-on-me bullshit because someone called you down off your pedestal.
For me, it's the level of emotional connection, commonalities, shared values and knowing who this person is. You cannot know these things after meeting someone for 10 min at a bar.

I find the act gross because of the risks. I never said 'Xyz' poster is a disgusting human for screwing randoms. Now clearly many came out of the woodwork defending the awesomeness of casual sex with strangers. It doesn't make me an asshole for finding it dangerous and scary.
Bliss was low class before she cleaned her shit up, she said so herself. There are many here with low opinions of her for the shit she used to stir up on various boards. She was in a downward spiral to a very dark place. If you had seen the train wreck that was bliss years ago you may understand what I'm talking about.
It sounds like you resent the fact that Bliss is doing better. Why do you continue to insist she's such a train wreck? What does any of this accomplish?

Lol, I was answering a question. There's no reason to resent an Internet stranger for cleaning up her shit. It would seem you don't like me though so will nit pick everything I write. Carry on.
Yes, you're such a victim. And I'm so mean b/c I keep picking on you.. for the fact that you are targeting and insulting another board member for no evident reason. You've insisted we all know you... why don't you come clean and tell us who you are?
I don't think teachers are underpaid. They get a crazy amount of time off.
agreed, at least in my state. teachers with my education and experience make about the same per hour as I do, and in nice districts, significantly more. and i am paid a fair market rate for my middle class, white collar desk job.
Do you work 50-60 hours a week, when you are contracted to work 40? Do you spend $500-800 a year of you own money for supplies at your job? Do you take work home to do on the weekends and holidays?
I think anyone that feels this way should teach for a month. Not sub, but teach. Make lesson plans, grade papers, meet with parents so on and so on.

I think you should work a non-teaching job and see that yes, most people don't work 40 hrs/week anymore and if they don't spend $500-$800/year on supplies, it's on some other work related issue. And yes, many people work on nights and weekends.

You know, the thing that gets me about this is that you chose your profession.
It's not like you have no education and teaching is the only job you can get. People make the choice to be a teacher, and if they don't want to deal with the hours they should have thought about that before they went to college to become a teacher.
I suppose I have more sympathy for those that are uneducated and have no choice but to work in a field with low pay and long hours because it's the only job they can get, but teachers had four years to figure out if being a teacher was worth their time.
I apply the same principle to any one else who attended college, works in their field, and complains about the obvious and longstanding basics of that field.

DH did all of this at his previous job. It's really not unusual at all.

And they don't get 6 weeks off in the summer, and other vacations throughout the year. Benefits aren't usually as good either.
Just like ALL OTHER JOBS, there are pluses and minuses to being a teacher.
Thank you to those who are defending me. I appreciate it.
High Horse, I'm an open book and will fully admit to my mistakes and poor choices. That doesn't give you a right to continually tell me how "low class" and other bullshit you've thrown at me in this thread. I'm an open book about my life because I survived it. And not many people who did what I did, do. I shouldn't be condemned, mocked or called out. Stop judging me by my past.
And ::high five:: to my fellow sluts, whores and hussies!!
This thread really is the gift that keeps on giving. I love teacher martyr wars.
Seriously.
How about those of us who spent time (and more importantly, SANITY) getting an advanced degree only to teach 13th graders for the same pay as an average teacher?
