Family was joking about how when their baby wakes up in the middle of the night, the dad would poke the mom (a SAHM) and say, "hey the baby's crying". I didn't see what was wrong with that.
When I'm on maternity leave I expect to take on all or most of the middle of the night wakings once we've settled in at home. If I have no appointments the next morning and am not sick, I see it as taking on my share for the family.
Unless we're having an unusually rough night, I don't see myself pushing my husband out of bed to tend to the baby when he has to work the next morning.
Of course I have not had my own child yet, so this is purely assumption.
Thank you! Me too (if we ever have children and I get a maternity leave!). I can't believe how everyone jumped down my throat. I think that's just fair, the mom can nap during the day, the dad can't!
Bliss, I feel like I shouldn't touch this with a 10 ft pole, but I'm going to give it a shot.
What do you mean by "the opportunity?" I have gone out to clubs without H, traveled by myself, lived on a different continent and not cheated on him. It wasn't for lack of opportunity, I just didn't want to.
This isn't black and white to easily define. Opportunity was just the best word choice.
If you are satisfied in your marriage I don't think people will cheat. But I fully believe those who are unsatisfied in their marriage will cheat given the opportunity. And opportunity can be a variety of things, as well as the level of cheating ie emotional affairs.
Taking care of your own kid isn't a job. It's a life choice. And required by law.
Yeah but if I wasn't the one taking care of them we'd have to pay someone else to do it. Therefore, imo, it's a job (albeit unpaid).
Meh. I don't have kids, and I couldn't care less either way, but I think it just rubs me the wrong way to hear a parent refer to taking care of their kid as a job. Kind of like the stereotype of when dad stays home with his kid, he calls it babysitting.
It makes me crazy that politicians are lumping people who make 250k in with "rich" people and arguing that we don't already pay our "fair share" of taxes.
I am sad that my thread has turned into a mommy matyr debate
No kidding. Yawn. I do not get why people care so much about what other people think. Do people say SAH is job because they fear others think they are lazy or not smart or something else? So they need to justify themselves? Or do people say it is not a job because they think SAH moms have it so much easier than they do?
UO, or maybe this is a confession. I like strip clubs. Not magic mike, but girl strip clubs. I used to go a few times a year before I had ToddlerB, but only out of town. I didn't want to see any former students in the club.
I like strip club music too-it gets me hype and makes me feel freaky.
Team barefoot. I also like strip clubs. I've only been twice, but it was fun!!
This debate is so stupid. It's just like any paid job. It can be easy, fun, rewarding or it can suck in the worst possible way. It depends on a million factors.

It's not that I particularly care and I'm not really a mommy martyr (I do everything possible to make my life easier, lol) but it *is* a certain amount of work. It seems kind of disrespectful of actual paid DCPs to say that it isn't. We do the same things they do, we just don't get paid for it.

Swallowing after giving head is gross. Do white people, "give head"? Or just BJ's? I only see BJ used on GBCN, in real life black folk say "give head".

Aren't they interchangeable references?
I've always said give head, or blowj's.
FWIW, I grew up in a racially diverse community.
BJ is shorter and you can use it in places you don't want to spell the whole thing out.
