For me, it's not an age thing. I changed my name once. I told DH after doing it that I will never change my name again, even if we get divorced. I also would not change my name if I were to remarry. Once was enough.
Surely there are other schools in the area. If it were me, there is no way in hell those kids would spend another day with that teacher. And I would absolutely call the police to report the teacher and her actions.
Obama's military found Bin Laden. We don't need the same size military as we had in WWII, right? War is different.
DH's response to that was, "uh, drones, missiles, jet engines..." We have all kinds of shit now that we didn't have in WWII that makes fewer soldiers necessary... Plus, you know, we're not in the middle of world war.
A bill called HB 1337 is on its way to Indiana Governor Mike Pence, at which point he will decide if women who have had abortions should be held responsible for the burial or cremation of the fetus, amongst other bat-shit insane things.
Authored by Rep. Casey Cox, R-Fort Wayne, the bill would obligate both woman who sought abortions and women who miscarried responsible for the disposal of the fetus through cremation or internment. As well as additional trauma, this would likely increase the financial burden of their medical care.
The bill demands that a woman considering an abortion listen to the fetal heartbeat and view an ultrasound of the fetus 18 hours before the abortion procedure. She would have the option to sign a form to pass on this, and most Indiana women would have to. Only 4 out of 92 counties in Indiana have abortion providers, and the ultrasounds must be done at the same facility the abortion will be performed. That’s a lot of traveling and an 18 hour wait, meaning more cost and time away from home.
The classic “doctor must have hospital admitting privileges” clause is shoved in there, too, in case you thought they missed even the slightest opportunity to stick it to women’s health.
Another aspect of the bill is summarized thusly:
Prohibits a person from performing an abortion if the person knows that the pregnant woman is seeking the abortion solely because of: (1) the race, color, national origin, ancestry, or sex of the fetus; or (2) a diagnosis or potential diagnosis of the fetus having Down syndrome or any other disability. Provides for disciplinary sanctions and civil liability for wrongful death if a person knowingly or intentionally performs a sex selective abortion or an abortion conducted because of a diagnosis or potential diagnosis of Down syndrome or any other disability.
“Any other disability” is a broad spectrum that might force a woman to bring a baby to term who wont survive long past birth, potentially in great suffering, even if the pregnancy is high risk for the mother.
The bill passed the Indiana House 60-40. And it’s not even the only anti-abortion bill we reported on today.
But, yes, Bernie, let's focus on free fucking college. Excellent plan. Hard to enroll in college when you can't get through grade school.
Honestly, what HRC's plan on the education front?
To be perfectly honest, I don't really know. The only things I've heard her say about education are kind of in response to Bernie. It's easy to criticize him because free college is one of his primary talking points, along with Wall Street. Hillary has talked about free community college (vs. free public universities) and they both talk about lowering student loan rates.
I could criticize her on it too, but free college isn't one of the things making her campaign.
I really would love to see a candidate who cares about early childhood education, making preschool more affordable, and increasing funding and programming for our K-12 public schools. I don't think any of them have any real plans around that.
Our company is having a smoothie truck come to the campus in a couple weeks. It's sort of a health/employee morale thing, but we want to somehow tie it into spring.
So far, the best we've come up with is "spring 'fruit'ward" which is kind of lame.
I can come up with a graphic for it, but I'm not terribly creative, so the actual idea isn't coming easy.
ut yes, there was mention of religion leading the decision-making process at the very beginning by the chair.
What in the everlovingfuck happened to the separation between church and state!?
And first trimester fetuses are not defined as people under the law! You can't fucking say they're babies and not clumps of cells when that's not how they are legally defined!
We switched to sprint from Verizon when H dropped his phone and completely shattered the screen. It was a relatively painless process. Actually, they are supposed to require you to turn your old phone in when you do it. They didn't make us and things got confused. We got the gift cards to cover the termination fees and I still have my old phone. I need to sell it.
It definitely didn't cut our rate in half after "renting" the new phones, but we are saving about $25 a month.
Well, my lunch is only supposed to be an hour, but I end up taking 90 minutes between my hour long crossfit class and commuting back and forth.
If I don't go to the gym, I usually run an errand or two. Sometimes I just pick up food and eat at work. Sometimes I heat leftovers and eat in the break room. If I have spare time over lunch, like in those scenarios, I'm nearly always dicking around on here or reading a book on the kindle app.
We did a free trial of Blue Apron last week and were impressed. The food was tasty, I think it made the number of servings stated, and it was very easy to follow the directions and prepare. I don't think we'll do it often because I think it's more expensive than shopping myself, but I like that it's there if there's a week that I just can't get myself to shop.
I'm honestly a very good baker and am generally very successful cooking or baking anything. I made this once and it did not turn out well. The crust was all puffy and weird and the filling ratio wasn't enough. I should really try making it again. It tasted delicious.
I didn't look at it too carefully. Do you think altitude might be an issue?
I actually made it in Indiana when we were there for Christmas a couple years ago, so no. I think I have to have done something wrong with the crust. It was a mess.
I'm fairly certain I'm going to take this cinnamon bun pie. Because omg.

My best friend went to TJ. I knew it was a mistake from the beginning. She's now two years out, hasn't been able to pass the bar, and is working as an assistant in a casting agency.
