Not very often. I might buy something for myself once a month, outside of shampoo, soap and such. When I do buy things, it's always on sale. I usually only buy things when I need them.

They've been up to a bunch of malarky over there. The Nest Gods starting posting things on Pinterest, linking things to FB and then they jacked the format up again. People were pretty much fed up and said peace out.
So, what do you do when the cop asks if you have been drinking? Lie?
It's a fairly simple risk/reward calculation - drink, and enjoy the alcohol, and put yourself at risk of a DWI or DUI. Or, avoid the enjoyment of an alocoholic beverage, and avoid the risk.
The reward is minimal, and barely mars your life to not have it (the alcohol - really, we're all adults, and, hopefully, not addicted to alcohol, so none of us need it for anything more than a bit of enjoyment or enhancement to an evening/meal). The risk is _massive_ - it goes well beyond simply getting caught with alcohol in your system, it includes the various things that can happen because the alcohol impairs your reaction time and your cognitive processes. Even one drink has some impact, although it might be less than what is written as the "legal limit". And by the time you "feel" tipsy, you are _well_ into the range of significant impairment.
So, it comes down to a huge risk for minimal/negligible reward.
It's a calculation that puts me firmly in the no alcohol if driving camp.
According to multiple cop friends, yes. If you say you have been drinking they usually will automatically do tests and/or a breathalyzer. If you say no and/or refuse a breathalyzer they can't do a test until they bring you into the station, if they chose to do that. I'm not saying that that's what I would do, but that is what I've been told you should do.
As for the rest of the stuff, I'm done arguing it. I'm not an idiot. I'm a health teacher and have heard and taught all of this stuff before. So I don't need more lessons on the effect of alcohol on different parts of your body and how it effects your driving. Most people know all of this already.
If you think I'm an asshole because I have a drink or two when I'm out and driving, so be it. Everyone has their own opinions and feelings on the topic, and are going to do what they are comfortable with. Personally I enjoy a good drink or beer and know how to enjoy it while staying within legal limits. You choose to abstain from it. Neither of us are breaking the law.
As some one who has worked in law enforcement, been through a shit load of training as far as drunk drivers go and have friends who are police officers in multiple states, that advice is shit. Lying to the cops when, 9 times out of 10, they can smell the alcohol will get you no where. In this state and most others, refusing a breathalyzer or field test is an automatic arrest. You can request the blood test instead of the breath test, but that's just a dumb move if you've been drinking.

It takes, at minimum if you are fully hydrated, for each drink to clear your system. If you are adding on top of drinks, you aren't giving your system time to burn it off, so it takes longer. If you have 3 drinks in 3 hours, you need at least another two hours for the effects of that drink to wear off. I did a test once. I am 5'4" and weigh 140lbs. It takes me 2 glasses of wine to be over the legal limit to drive. At that point, I barely feel buzzed. I'm really only in that happy and giggly phase.
I'll go out to dinner and have a glass of wine while we wait for our food. When that's gone, I won't drink any more if I'm driving. I eat my dinner, sit and talk. If it hasn't been at least an hour, we walk around for a bit or talk out side the restaurant for a bit longer. Yeah, I'm perfectly fine at that point, but I'd rather not risk anything.
If you know me well enough you'll figure it out. If not I'm not worried about telling you who I am. OPSEC and all that shit right? Shouldn't we remain special and secret so the magic terrorists can find us and eat our children, no wait that's the zombies.
It is pathetic to think that a grown adult couldn't go out without having anything to drink. When I go out and I am driving. I have a coke. Seriously.
Is it that necessary to have a drink? I think water counts as a drink. Don't be a jackass.
Besides... if you want to drink you are allowed to call a cab if you can't afford that you probably shouldn't be drinking.
So people should call a cab every single time they have one drink? That's ridiculous. If you want to do that then knock yourself out. But the fact that I think it's stupid doesn't mean I can't afford it or shouldn't be drinking.
That's not what she said. You are completely missing it.

I agree. If J and I go out, one of us drinks and the other doesn't drink at all. It's not a hard thing to do. If someone asks, I say I'm driving. Adults understand that. If it is an occasion like ball or a wedding or party, we get a cab or a hotel. It isn't that hard. Like you said, if you don't have the money for it, you shouldn't be drinking.
Our plan is to meet up with Tx and her family. Between the four of us adults we have enough stuff to outfit an entire platoon. We were thinking of meeting in TN but if we leave the north first it may have to be in LA in the swamps somewhere since we can travel a bit faster. Plus, if we're going down, I want to be with little people as cute as her kiddos!
LMAO!! ILY! I would be ok with the swamps, but I prefer high ground. Plus, we can use some of the awesome caves for shelter.

When my cousin was 3, his mom went out to get milk one night. We know what happened next because a family friend witnessed it. She saw a car swerving in the road and pulled off the road into the parking lot of the dealership where my grandpa worked. The other car stopped, revved the engine and kicked it in gear. They ran up on the hood of her car, decapitating her and leaving my cousin with out a mother. The driver had been sitting at a bar drinking for more than 6 hours. They thought it would be funny to scare her but didn't hit the breaks or turn in time. A very good friend of mine nearly died in HS from Anorexia. When she got to 88lbs at 17 years old, we confronted her parents, doctors. She got help. She got better. Two years later, she was driving home from college for the weekend and was killed by a drunk driver who ran her off a road and into a culvert. While in college, my brother's best friend decided to go on a beer run. He thought he was just a little buzzed. Two miles into the three mile drive, he passed out and crashed into a tree. His car caught fire and he burned up in it before the fire department got to him on the country road. My brother found him and still has nightmares about it 10 years later. Drinking and driving is not ok. I don't care how old you are or how stupid you are.

I made shepherds pie for a friend who had a baby last week. I also usually do lasagna, chicken pot pie, a big salad with chicken in a separate container so it doesn't wilt the greens.
Another dude disemboweled himself and through his intestines at police. Another dude hacked up a guy that lived in his house, ate the brains and heart, stored his head and hands in tins in the basement and threw the rest of the dude's parts in a church dumpster. The cannibal guy's brother discovered the head and hands in the basement and told his dad who called police. Too many people on too many funky drugs, which is exactly how a good friend of mine said it would all go down. Drugged up people wandering and causing a crazy frenzy. Who knows if anything will ever happen like that. Just know that I will be prepared.
I just saw these stories yesterday and showed them to H. We always joke around about our zombie survival plan. I mean, I did buy him the zombie survival guide after about 6months of dating haha. Do I really really think it could happen? I don't know, probably not. But do I talk about it and joke around with H and family and friends? Absolutely. H and I always discuss our plans and escape routes etc.
This is how we are. We have a plan that we joke about. Being on the coast, we have a hurricane box in case we have to evacuate. At the begining of every summer, we stock it with water, batteries, food and such. J calls it our Zombie Box. He's deployed and I told him last night about all this mess going on. He said I may need something a little more powerful in the house. I said don't worry, I have a pole saw under my pillow. He thought it was hilarious.

I think many of you are missing the actual issue with this particular situation. The issue is not with them nursing in uniform. As an Army veteran, I was allowed to nurse while in uniform. I was provided a space in which to do it. Later, I was provided the same office space to pump. The issue with these pictures is not the fact that they are nursing their babies while in uniform. The issue is that these women willingly took part in a breastfeeding campaign, in their uniforms, with out seeking proper permission before doing so. It is against the rules for them to pose in uniform to endorse any political candidate. It is against the rules for them to participate in any other campaign to endorse any other cause out side of those that support the military or veterans. There is no difference here. I also have another issue with the pic that has nothing to do with a woman's right to BF. When I was in, I had 18, 19, 20 year old men who I was in charge of. Young men (really all men) see breasts as sex organs and not a means to feed your children. As a woman in a job that was as close to a combat arms job as I could get, I had to work harder to prove my worth to the members of my unit than any young man who came to the unit. I had to prove I was one of the guys. I had to work my ass off to prove I was a bad ass they could respect. Had I nursed my baby in front of them, they would have seen me in a sexual manner instead of as one of the guys. Seeing me in a sexual manner would have thrown every bit of respect they had for me out the window. I know this is a shitty way to look at it, but that's what you have when you deal with young men. Every thing is about sex. We already have a hard enough time gaining respect from the younger guys who think having a woman lead them is appalling. Sorry for the post and run. I'll be back on in a bit if anyone has a rebuttal or question.

I'm sorry he's being odd. If it were my grandma, I'd start reporting it to FB and let them know she has passed away. We had to do that with a friend. His psycho GF started signing into is FB page and updating their relationship status to say married or telling people off. We reported it and FB deleted the page.

I check the sale papers to see what's on sale at the two stores near my house. I shop the produce stand near my house, as well. I coupon a good bit. I also have a small stock pile of things like rice, pasta and such. I figure out what I have + what's on sale and see what I can do with it. I also get requests from the man and the kids to see what they would like. I go from there.

I keep a ton of fruits and veggies on hand. I cut them up and put them in snack bags. Tonight, the kids had baked chicken strips that I premade last week. I threw a few of those in a bowl with an avocado and a bumch of other cut up veggies. It was yummy. I tend to do that pretty often. My kids love salads, though, so salads are on the menu a few nights out of the week. Maybe you can keep things like that on hand. Bake up a few chicken breasts one night during the week. Save a couple for salad toppings, make a chicken salad for sandwiches or to stuff into tomatoes, make chicken wraps, burritos or tacos. There are so many things you can do with baked chicken. If you don't have time to bake it yourself, go grab a roasted chicken from the store.
A girl in my Basic class had a raging gonorrhea outbreak and I had to go with her to tell the drills who then sent me to the hospital with her. It was the only time I was tempted to go AWOL.

This doesn't completely apply to me, but J works opposites every few weeks. I fix meals for us like usual. When I put dinner away, I fix a plate for him and put it in the fridge. I also keep muffins, power cookies, and several other options for him around. He will either heat up dinner or grab something else when he gets home. He also takes left overs and snacks with him when he leaves for work again.

I agree with all the above ideas. Also, is she a reader? Maybe you could buy a book for both of you to read together and discuss. That may help her take her mind off things and give her something to look forward to.
I don't care about NIP in uniform. I'm more "concerned" with them using the uniform to make a statement. I'd be side eyeing a woman in uniform modeling a can of formula as well.
This is kind of where I am on the topic. I have no issue with a mother BFing her child in uniform. It's the use of the picture that does bother me. If it had been for personal use, no issue. I just feel like this was used for political and shock value purposes. I see this the same as I would see it if these women were sitting at one of the nurse in protests nursing in uniform.

We really could use the rain, just not so much at one time. I'm cracking open a bottle of wine. I'm taking it easy, though, just in case. Thanks for thinking about us.

When I was in, it was my fellow soldiers and the bond we shared. With H, it is the family and support system we have around us through his unit. This is one of the tightest groups you will find in all the military. We really are a family.

On my side of town, it isn't bad, yet. I have friends 20 min south who have no lights and trees down. There have been trees down near HAB's side of town, too. They just announced winds are only 5mph less than hurricane force. It is supposed to hit land at Jacksonville, turn north and then sit on top of us for a few days. I think the biggest threat is from falling trees. We've been so dry, the least bit of rain can make these old oaks fall over since their root system is so shallow.
