1) What project are you working on? Some wool interlock longies for the little man. I finished making the pattern last night, will test it on some fleece soon, hopefully. If all is well, I'll dye the interlock to 2 different colors, and then finally sew the longies. Phew! I'm also going to make him a new sleep sack but still need to make that pattern.
2) What was the last awesome project you finished? DS's halloween costume! He's going to be a tiger/leopard (the fabric is kind of weird, half tiger half leopard). Pics to come soon. Or do I have to wait until Halloween?
3) Any complaints/frustrations/issues with your current projects? I'm also working on a knit sweater for DS which is taking FOREVER. I might have to pass it off to my mom if I want him to be able to wear it this winter. She's much faster than I am.
4) Only 88 days until Christmas... Are you ready? I need a paper bag to breathe into, please.
5) Random: Favorite Movie of all time? Office space.
Now where did you find sweatshirt fleece? I want to make a blazer out of some.
Thanks everyone!!
I found the sweatshirt fleece at Jo-Anns, near the regular fleece. They don't have a great selection of colors (just light gray, dark gray, orange, red, khaki...and that's it I think...maybe black). It's not stretchy like I would like it to be to make a sweatshirt, but I think that's perfect for a blazer where you'd want more structure. Can't wait to see that!

These are adorable!! I love that there's an upcycled component. I really need to play with my serger more...haven't done a rolled hem yet. One of these days I'll get to it.
I think I have this pattern! I drug it out today, but decided on a different one for now. But I can't wait to make K a pair. Love the sweatshirt fleece. They look warm and so cute!
Cool! I can't wait to see your version. What did you decide to make for the time being?

I think I mentioned in my last overalls post that I was making another pair with jl&jl's pattern before mailing it back to her. I made this pair out of sweatshirt fleece...easy to launder, comfy and warm for the fall/winter. Here's my little wearing them:

Lurker who's cut cable here.
We got an antenna for $40 on Amazon. We get about 4 basic channels like fox, cbs, abc (no nbc :-( ), kqed. So often, we'll get football on fox but it's not always our home team's game. DH has an iPad for work and sometimes he'll watch the game through our friend's ESPN account.
We watch our shows through Hulu Plus, which we can watch on our regular TV with apple TV. It's worked out really well for us.

So sweet!!
Also, congratulations! I wasn't sure if I had missed a different announcement thread, but saw in your ticker that your new little guy is 3 days old so even if I did miss a thread- Congratulations!!

My little guy is going to be a leopard. He was supposed to be a puppy, but when I went to the fabric store to get fabric, he was holding the pattern and kept pointing to the tiger costume on it. I kept asking, "you want to be a puppy, right?" He'd shake his head and point to the tiger. Then I'd ask, "you want to be a tiger?" and he said "Yesss." (keep in mind he is 14 months old). I couldn't resist the cuteness and made the switch.
They didn't have tiger fur pile, but they had leopard, and he seemed into that too. So now I am working with fur pile and kicking myself a little bit. There's fluff everywhere!! But that is motivating me to finish it faster, which is good. Hopefully it turns out cute
Aww! Too cute! Will you make me a pair for my unborn son? j/k I can sew, I've just been too lazy to bring my machine up from the basement.
I am getting pretty quick at making them. I just finished another pair before I send the pattern back to jl&jl. But sewing for your baby is half the fun!
Congratulations! Sewing for a boy gets a bad rap, but I've found plenty of things to keep me busy and keep him cute.

So I haven't AW'ed anything in a while because frankly, I was in a sewing rut and busy with summer stuff. But jl&jl sent me the pattern for these cute vintage overalls and I just love how they turned out!
I haven't participated in the past (I probably will this year)
I think a pre-req for participating is that you post a picture of a recent project (it can be a re-post), because I love seeing PIPs, and it would prove to all of us that you really are a "crafter"
Makes sense to me. Although all this talk of all the beautiful things sent last year makes me nervous. Will mine be good enough?? Clearly, this ornament exchange is already giving me a craft insecurity complex.
I've gotten good in maybe the last year or 2. I look back at the crap I used to knit and can't believe I gave it to anyone. I've also learned a lot about fiber types, gauge, "reading" my work to help spot problems, etc.
It also helped that my old LYS owner was very encouraging. I'd see a pattern and she would say, "You can do this. And we can help you if you need it."
I think I need to knit a lot more to become as seasoned a knitter as you in 5 years.
That's wonderful about your LYS owner. I just discovered one close to my house and they have knit alongs and things that I might join one of these days. They usually don't start late enough for MH to get home and put DS to bed though. Someday, though.
Going on 5 years (I know because it was my obsession with putting my then infant son's head into adorable baby hats that got me started). I'm pretty quick now- and love that I can knit without watching my hands (I still have to check my hands with crochet, and I've been doing that longer!). Knitting something boring (no cool stitch pattern or at least color changes) with thinner yarns is not my idea of fun, though- and knowing my habits, I avoid patterns that will end up languishing half-finished foreverandever.
Yes! Being able to knit without looking at my hands will be great. And I think you're right about not choosing boring patterns. This one is kind of boring, but since I'm such a newbie, I figure it's good to start easy.
