I can vouch for this organization too, it's local to me and one I give to regularly. I just saw this posted on Facebook by Beautiful Soles, and my husband saw the awful aftermath of the accident.
I have a 2700 sq ft house too, and only use half of it on a regular basis which helps.
My H vacuumed the other day and our bedroom smelled so strongly like a Christmas tree - I realized that was the first time we had vacuumed since December. So I guess we have low standards too, lol.
I'm 15 minutes outside of Seattle too (north), and all the houses in my neighborhood have sold within a few days of listing. Actually I think one took a month or so but it's a MAJOR fixer.
I did my whole house two years ago and it was life changing! The key for me was following her recommendation to do one category at a time (we did keep all our books because we love them all). I gave away so much stuff and still find stuff to "discard". My H did it with me, but was much less aggressive at first. Over time he's gotten better, and we both use the "does it spark joy" question all the time, when buying stuff and when deciding to get rid of something. My son was 1.5 at the time so we didn't have to deal with his input at all.
My dad had his esophagus removed 3 years ago, and the recovery was really rough, 2 weeks in the hospital. But now he's doing really well and as far as I know hasn't had any complications. Sending you both positive thoughts!
I'd caution against the Ride the Ducks tour. After a horrible, horrible crash with a bus (carrying international students from my college workplace) that killed 4 people 18 months ago, a lot of reports came out about how badly the vehicles are maintained, if at all.
Say no to the Ducks!
Agreed! A few months ago I saw a passenger with a toddler standing on her lap, hanging halfway out the window/side of the vehicle at a stop light near my work. Although those things scared me even before the accident.
The ferry to Bainbridge is my favorite thing to do with visitors, it's so beautiful and easy to walk on.
The Chihuly glass garden is well worth it too. Probably not the most interesting place for an 11 year old, but it's stunning and doesn't take long to walk through. It's right at the base of the Space Needle.
Thinking of you! I agree with the pp who said they are rushing because they believe you have a great chance with their treatments and they want to get started ASAP to have the most impact.
This isn't *quite* true. The city of Seattle itself is only about 650,000 people...the blue extends from the city out into the east and north suburbs, even into Snohomish County. And west to Bainbridge. Olympia has pockets of blue, too, as does Bellingham. But you're right about basically everywhere else being pretty red. I'm always shocked at how red Pierce County is, but I think it's JBLM's influence.
(As an Eastside girl born & raised, I'm sensitive to people labeling the suburbs as conservative or homogenous, when they're anything but ... Bellevue is home to one of the most racially diverse zip codes in the entire country. The political leanings in the suburbs have gotten increasingly liberal over the past 15 years or so)
Yeah and no. I agree, but have friends in Buckley, and feels like a whole other world.
Buckley, Enumclaw (famous for an unfortunate death at a horse brothel if that tells you anything) etc. really are a different world! But I wouldn't really call them suburbs either, it's pretty rural out there.
I'm in a northern suburb, and it seems like the farther north of Edmonds/Lynnwood you go, the more Trump supporters there are.
I made a sign on foam board with a big heart painted on, and am going to affix Velcro to the opposite side so I can switch out the message depending on the protest.
I'm in the process of finishing a room in the basement that is directly under the master. It will be used as a media room, and temporary bedroom for my husband when we have a second baby at some point in the future, so I'm concerned about sound going up but more so with it traveling down when I'm waking up and walking around with a crying baby (baby will sleep in our room for the first year).
The ceiling is totally open right now but has two heating ducts running through it. Is it necessary to soundproof all spaces between the joists? We're looking a rock wool or regular fiberglass insulation with a sound barrier. We're also considering skipping soundproofing entirely if the difference will be negligible. The master is carpeted with a decent pad, installed within the last year. Does anybody have experience with this or advice?
But Pet Sounds is such a brilliant album, so I pretend otherwise (hypocrite party of 1).
I don't know if he's a jerk, as much as someone suffering from a severely manipulated mental disorder. Again, Mike Love is the true asshole in the group. The Manson close friend was Brian's brother Dennis (who drowned in Marina del Rey years ago).
Nerdy side note, I love the Beach Boys and would drive by their monument weekly, when we live in El Segundo, to pay my respects.
I love The Beach Boys too, when I was a teenager I convinced my parents to mail a check for like $12 so I could officially join their fan club, lol. I will be so disappointed if they perform at the inauguration.
I took a "showgirls" masterclass from a former Rockette recently and it was like a dream come true. I was never good enough to even audition for them, but I did dream of being a Vegas showgirl until I realized I would never make it over 5' 3".
My employer gives 4 weeks prior and 12 weeks after birth paid, with an additional 10 weeks PTO/unpaid. It's definitely keeping me there for the foreseeable future!
Gifts go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped. The rule in our house is that if you open/see a gift before Christmas Eve (when we open gifts), then it goes back and isn't replaced. I am very serious about this and my kids won't dare mess with them.
Santa only fills the stockings in our house because we can afford to buy gifts for each other.
Can you elaborate on the Santa only filling stockings thing? Are you trying to help other kids feel better about not getting much from Santa? I'm just curious.
