I still check Twitter daily, but like a lot of you my usage has gone way down. A lot of my best professional learning was happening there right before the Musk takeover, and it's so frustrating to see how fragmented that PLN has become over various other platforms. Right now I'm liking Bluesky more than anything else, but that's partly because Threads doesn't have a browser option. I rarely use social media on my phone, but my laptop is a different story.
Threads launched the browser version a couple of weeks ago.
And then extrapolate to include watching another child for the oldest.
Ages 7 and under: Cannot be left alone at home during any period of the time. This includes leaving them unattended in the cars, backyards and playgrounds. This is a vulnerable age and their would be a high risk to their safety; Ages 8 to 10: are permitted to be home alone only during daylight and early morning hours for no later than 1 and ½ hours; Ages 11 to 12: can be left alone during the day for up to 3 hours but not late at night; Ages 13 to 15: are permitted to be left unsupervised, but not overnight and; Ages 16 to 17: can be left unsupervised for up to 2 days.
Most states say that 11 and under is too young to be left alone for childcare. So 12+ for babysitting.
I think it’s easy to dismiss this guy, but there are so many companies working on the same thing. Most of them — if not all of them — will prove to be bogus. If these rich techies really wanted to make a difference, they’d fund actual medical research, not pseudoscience helmets. I think that’s what pisses me off every time I hear about a “longevity” company. If they actually cared about longevity, they’d work to address the social determinants of health, like health equity, poverty, food insecurity, gun violence, etc. etc.
but they don't want everybody to live longer. Just people who can afford it.
FWIW, there's always been too rich for their own good assholes with who needed therapy and instead dumped money into weird obsessive approaches to wellness.
Howard Hughes is the perfect example of this. He founded a medical institute to discover the "genesis of life itself". His downfall was his germaphobia and OCD.
Yes, mostly for figure skating Twitter, which is still mostly concentrated on there as opposed to the alternative platforms. I'm trying to shift over to Bluesky more often now, as that seems to be where the bulk of the people I follow are starting to pop up.
Do I have an account - yes Do I scroll through trending topics every once in a while when I'm extremely bored with the rest of the internet but don't want to put down my phone? yes Do I post? no
That's using, lol! Just browsing gives post impressions and interaction numbers.
Yesterday (?) he removed text from link previews. Now he's removing all action buttons such as the like/retweet buttons. You have to click into the tweet to get to them.
I enjoyed both the subtle and overt shade woven throughout the article.
I haven't thought about Tuck Everlasting in forever.
All those supplements are going to kill him. Did he not look at the conclusive research that flooding your body with excess stuff overwhelms your organs?
@@@
Getting his kid to give him plasma transfusions is nuts. /@@@
I'm not going to speculate on a mental health diagnosis, but perhaps he should include mental health care into his regimen.
I lost whatever thread this goes in - Trump told Aussie billionaire military sub classified information, and then said billionaire told 45 other people.
To everyone with barfy kids, Amazon sells these great barf bags that are like little lined trash bags with drawstrings. They are a wonderful investment! DS has one in the pocket by his bed and one in the pockets in the car by his seat. He's had to use them because of motion sickness on many occasions. He is really good about going to the toilet or barfing in a bag, but the Covid barf took him by surprise.
We have the hospital kind in all our cars. The kid has been a puker before.
First bout of norovirus happening right now. A loft bed seems like a good decision until it gets covered in puke. Luckily it was just his bedding but... ugh.
