Like any other profession, it isn't about the pay. It's usually about the environment. Do you like your boss? Do you feel supported? Do you feel appreciated, are you fulfilled, do you have what you need to do your job?
The statistic is what? 40 or 50% will quit before the five year mark? You can up the salary all you want and deepen the pool of prospective teachers, but it doesn't change the climate of the schools. Fix that first.
Unfortunately, a lot of that problem is political. It's not an easy matter to address. The reasons are complicated.

They didn't stack in my cart earlier. Not sure about in store.
I like NYX for their lip stuff- Butter Balm, Matte Lip Cream, and Butter Gloss are all favorites. Wonderstick is another must have for me.
Pore Filler is the Porefessional dupe. They're very similar, but I prefer Benefit a little more. Pore Filler is a bit clumpy, and Porefessional is more smooth. I also feel like I had to use more Pore Filler to achieve the same results, so not a great value for me.
I like their jumbo eye pencils. Concealer in a Jar is okay. I prefer It Cosmetics for concealer, but Concealer in a Jar gets the job done, too.

Race weekends don't impact the crowds much at all. You might see a small uptick at MK after the marathon because people like to do photos there in front of the castle, but a lot of time runners come in just to run. Many do multiple races and opt to chill out at the resort to save their legs for the next few days of races.
My mom laid down on the couch after dinner, DH was occupying the only other chair in her living room. She announced that "she is lying down and can she bring me a lawn chair?" "It's a camping chair and reclines so it's acceptable." (Wtf). I grabbed my colored pencils and sat down on the floor and colored so as to not lose my shit. DS was climbing all over the couch and I just let him. He then kicked her in the head. I didn't say a word. He then kicked her in the crotch, not a word. She then made an annoyed noise and sat up. I moved to the couch.

I received TF Naughty Kisses and Sweet Cheeks set in my stocking. I'm going to return it though. It's very similar to set I received last year.
I also received a set of Bare Minerals mini lipsticks I had asked for, but I'm not sure whether or not I like them. They feel more greasy than creamy. The colors are pretty, though.

Family gifts are wrapped in pretty paper that matches the tree. (I know, I know.) They get placed under the tree in the living room as soon as they are wrapped.
Santa gifts are wrapped in tacky character paper that mom is not cool enough to buy. We have a second tree in the family room by the fireplace, so they end up there.

Somewhere between several times a month and special occasions only. Not very frequently, but I really only drink liquor. Beer and wine aren't my thing.
I thought Columbus was the place to be… If you are white. Any women of color had experience with Columbus? My mom moved north of there to Powell which is lily white and looks like Wisteria Lane on desperate housewives. She has grandchildren through her partner (my nieces) Who are black (adoption) and half black/half white (biological). My niece who is half black half white is 19 or 20 and would say that there is definitely racism that she encounters simply because of her skin color. Almost all her friends are white because there is not a lot of diversity. And they actually live in Lancastor which is not as affluent as Powell. Her little sister is too young to really have shared anything about her experiences with me. But she was adopted from Haiti by her evangelical mother (my stepsister) So there is the likely whole white savior thing going on there. There are a lot of children from their church who were adopted from Haiti just before and after the big earthquake.
Anyway I don't really see very much diversity in the Columbus area outside of these kids. Not in stores, the airport, etc. the family does live in these bedroom communities of Powell, Dublin and Landcaster though.
I don't consider Lancaster to be Columbus at all. Powell and Dublin have always been rich white folks. Neither of those represents Columbus at all. I do feel like the city is diverse but you have to step outside the white bubble of the affluent suburbs to see it.
The school doesn't provide it and asks for students to bring in four boxes. I have to beg for it from classroom teachers. I also have the option to buy it with my budget, but I'd rather not.
Consider picture books as well for an emergent reader. Chapter books are nice and all, but there's a lot of value in picture books, especially for emergent readers. They're important for developing comprehension skills and reading fluency. The pictures give clues about context.
Any suggestions?
Love Elephant and Piggie for read aloud books. Kids can see Gerald and Piggies' faces and read with expression.
The Book With No Pictures by BJ Novak is great for the same reasons.
A Bear Ate Your Sandwich is one of my current faves. Also loving Mother Bruce and Hotel Bruce. Loving books by Peter Brown.
My K-2 kids LOVE Pete the Cat, the Bear series by Karma Wilson, Froggy series, Tacky, and classics like Clifford and Berenstain Bears.

My store still had a decent selection. The manager rang me up and said they were told this morning that they're going out of business and all stores will be closing.

iPad time. He's allowed to use his iPad before school, but he may not touch it until he has eaten breakfast, brushed his teeth, and gotten dressed, including shoes. Most days he is ready to go before I've gotten dressed.
