I think that when DD (and hopefully future child/ren) asks, we will explain it to them in a way that is age appropriate. I like the idea of explaining all the different ways babies are made as well.
Another night of no sleep. 2 little teeth are finally poking through, so I'm going after tonight we get a little break!!
Semi related: before becoming a parent, I never thought I could get so annoyed /angry watching someone else rub their eyes. OMG DD stop rubbing them and waking yourself up!
I hope you get some relief now. To your second point - YES! Stop rubbing your face! My DD also has quite a lot of hair, so she will also grab her hair while sleeping and wake herself up that way too, since strangely enough, it hurts if someone pulls your hair, even when it’s you doing it.
I had mine done last year in July and am getting them done again this Thursday. Last year it took 1 syringe of juvederm and I paid around $500 because for the plastic surgeon office’s had an Anniversary sale, they offered 20% off.
I was swollen for about a week but they said not everyone swells.
I did it mainly because my under eyes have lost a lot of volume so no matter what, I constantly look tired. The filler just helps to even it out, but I still had some purple tinge under my eyes, as that doesn’t go away completely, but it was definitely better. I was so happy with it and can’t wait for it to be done. I’d like to get them permanently fixed, but I am afraid it will change my appearance too much, where this just makes my under eye even.
DD stayed at my parents this weekend and I picked her up today. Well I don’t know if it’s because she was upset with being left (I hope not), she was off her schedule, it’s her 4th leap, or something else was going on, but omg. She wouldn’t nap this afternoon, she cried so hard, for so long because she was so overtired. Finally at 9pm, I put her in her car seat, and took her for a 20 minute drive. When we got home she was snoring, so I was able to put her in her crib. She slept for almost 5 hours and just woke up to eat. She is back asleep now and I am hoping she’ll have another good stint of sleep. I am now scared to leave her again in case this happens the next time. Hopefully tomorrow we will be back to normal.
woowoolovelyshoeshamsterlatte I am wondering if you are all still using probiotics? My son is still very gassy, very frequently and I am looking for alternatives to just using gas drops. I would love to hear if they are still working for you as I was hoping that might be something that could prevent his gas. TIA
Yes - we use the biogaia drops (they come in a 2 pack from Costco for less). I think they are still working because DD is rarely gassy. I don’t know how much is the probiotics and how much is age, but I am sticking with it. I did have to work up to the full dose though. We did half strength for a few days, and then 3/4 then full strength. The very gassy days were so tough. I hope something works.
What time do your babies go to bed? It's 8 PM and I think D wants bedtime, not a cat nap, but I'm concerned that it'll totally screw me over and he will be up as soon as I go to bed. He is zonked the F out, so dream feeds are almost impossible.
Up until Friday, it was 10-11p (sometimes 12a). We went to a session with a sleep consultant, and starting Friday, we have been aiming for 7:30-8:30. Her naps got screwed up on Sunday and Sunday night wasn’t good. The consultant said that at DDs age (3 months) we should aim for 90 minutes of awake time before the next nap and we have been trying this and it’s amazing how accurate it is for us. So far, when her naps are good, her sleep has been so much better.
But H, who is sleeping in the nursery, said she was up every hour for her pacifier or needing to be rocked
I'm not ready for CIO (and any small attempt at sleep training ends in her screaming), but I don't know what else to do! I know she can connect sleep cycles, because she frequently does it with long naps and during her first chunk of nighttime sleep, but then the rest of the night is frequently awful.
I am trying to connect DD’s sleep cycles in the day and we are struggling. I hope your DD connects them soon!
Does anyone else have a thumb sucker? DD has started sucking her thumb. She will rip her soother out of her mouth and then aggressively shove her hand into her mouth until she gets her thumb in there, all while half yelling. Any ideas on how to get her to stop so it doesn’t become a habit? I have been pushing her hand out of the way and replacing it with her soother, but she doesn’t really care and just keeps doing it.
DD slept at my parents Friday. She slept for 6 hours and then 4 hours. Wtf mom, what are you doing that we aren’t?
We are going to a sleep session put on by a sleep consultant on Friday. Hopefully we will be able to get some ideas how to get her to sleep longer (or at least take naps in the day time).
Yes to not STTN! DD is 5 months and was up every 2 hours from 930-630 😭 Her longest stretch recently was 4.5ish hours earlier this week, and that was a fluke.
DD always grabbed at her face and kept herself from falling asleep once we dropped the swaddle. The Zipadee Zip really helped with that since her hands are covered.
I will look up that Zipadee Zip! When we have her hand covered with the flaps on her pjs (that flip to cover) then she just rubs her face. Like come on kid!
I hope you DD starts sleeping longer stretches. That’s brutal. ☹️
I am just convinced my child will never sleep through the night and am working hard not to care. I get so jealous of all my friends with babies DDs age (3 months) and they are all sleeping long stretches, while this one still wakes up every 1.5-3 hours.
I am also annoyed because H has been in so many golf tournaments lately and he comes home and he’s tired so he goes to bed early. So I have to have the baby all day and then all night and he gets to go to bed because he’s tired from having been in the sun all day drinking. Oh poor you, H. And he leaves for a 5 day golf trip at the beginning of October. Perfect timing for the 4 month sleep regression.
Also, does anyone else's baby grab their face? DD has been grabbing at her hair and her face while she is trying to fall asleep and while sleeping (which wakes her up). I don’t know why she’s doing it and I don’t know how to stop it.
It’s 11pm and we’re already on our 2nd wake-up, so this bodes well😭.
I started second wake up at 11:45, but it’s almost an hour later and she doesn’t seem as though she is going to fall asleep anytime soon. I, on the other hand, am fighting to stay awake.
namasteak we are now able to go 3-4 hours in the day between feeds, but she’ll only eat between 2-4 oz.
You might want to try feeding her more often throughout the day. Even when she’s being bottle fed, DD rarely goes more than 2.5-3 hours at the absolute most between meals during the day (she eats even more often on days when she’s nursing). She’s been STTN pretty regularly since she was two months old, so we’ve just continued to let her eat on demand instead of trying to spread out or time her feeds.
Her doctor said to try and spread out her feed so she eats more, but less often since she was eating small amounts throughout the day. We had been feeding her on demand, but it seems no matter what we do, she still wakes up at night throughout. I thought by now, she’d be eating more ounces.
Getting there. I finally got my double stroller, but D isn't quite there yet.
I had all of these images of myself going for multiple walks each day after I had DD. I haven’t. I imagine it’s much harder with 2. Know it will come off eventually, just be kind to yourself. I try and practice this because it’s so much easier said than done. Especially when nothing you own fits!
When DD goes to sleep, her first stretch is usually 3 hours, sometimes 4 if we are really lucky, but then each period of sleep after gets progressively shorter as the night goes on. Does anyone have any tips on how to extend those? We are working on spacing out her feedings so she eats more, less frequently, but he sleep patterns are not my favourite, so any tips would be appreciated!
We went to the doctor today for a refill on DD’s reflux medication and the doctor said we need to work on pushing her feeds to be further apart, since she is still eating about 10-11x a day. Hopefully that goes well and she starts to consistently sleep for longer periods.
Sorry hamster. I hope you are at least able to get some sleep. I know my lack of sleep is really causing me to not be a nice person and I feel like I really don’t get to enjoy my baby.
Is anyone on a predictable schedule yet? Either time or routine based.
I feel like D sleeps all morning with back to back naps, and then is awake all evening. I'd really like him to be at least awake for an hour or so between naps, but sometimes he is only awake for 20 minutes to eat and falls back asleep.
Not at all. It’s hard because she is all over everywhere with her naps and eating, but we are trying to at least get into a routine.
latte grandma and grandpa's house is the best! I think I started sending C at 4 or 5 months. Sadly D will be later since he isn't exclusively bottle fed.
It is the best! And considering she is already back up, it looks better and better! Ha! That is definitely one benefit of formula feeding is anyone can feed her. She stayed once at 5 weeks, but we had to get up so early that next day for my medical appointments, we could catch up on sleep. This time, I hope we sleep in!
You know the saying “Never wake a sleeping baby?” I should have listened to it, because DD fell asleep at 10pm but I hadn’t given her her medication yet (wasn’t expecting her to fall asleep so fast). Giving her the medicine woke her up and she didn’t fall back asleep until 1am. She is sleeping at my parents tomorrow night and I can’t wait to go to bed semi early and sleep all night. I was trying to get H to let her stay 2 nights, but he said we’d have to see how she did tomorrow. I just want more sleep, so hopefully he goes for it.
DD has a low grade fever and is not sleeping good. I have given her Tylenol which helped the fever, but every time I get her to sleep, I put her down and her eyes pop open. It has been a rough couple of days and I am so exhausted. Luckily she is going to my parents this weekend so I hope to catch up on some sleep.
DD has her vaccinations yesterday. She slept most of the day, and did fairly good at night. However, now she doesn’t really want to sleep today, and she is slightly miserable this afternoon.
latte and woowoo, it may not be so bad. DD cried at her 2 month shots, but not any harder than she has at other various times...and then that night she slept for 11 straight hours (her longest stretch up until that point had been maybe 6 hours). H and I joked that we wished she could get shots every day, lol.
This is my dream. Her sleep has been overall getting worse, so I hope she is like your DD!
