TLC has tackled infant beauty pageants, extreme couponers and polygamist families, and now the network is going behind the scenes of competitive cheerleading with "Cheer Perfection."
On "Cheer Perfection" (Wed., July 11, 10 p.m. ET), the new special from the producers of "Toddlers & Tiaras," viewers will meet Alisha Dunlap (who appeared on "Toddlers" with her daughter Cassadee), the co-owner and head coach of Cheer Time Revolution, and her young, very energetic students. It's like "Dance Moms" meets "Toddlers & Tiaras" because these ultra-competitive moms want success for their young children.
"The moms that come here, they like to win more than I do," Alisha says in the video preview below.
The mom of one of Alisha's students, Mandy, says Alisha can yell at her kids. "She can get in her face, whatever it takes to make her the best," Mandy says. "I want to win."
The new special follows a week of tryouts for a new team at Cheer Time Revolution. Check out the video below and read TLC's description of the cheer moms.
Ann, the mother of Torrann, sees herself as the top of the gym's pecking order. Passionate about winning, her perspective is, “I don't spend all this money to lose.” Bonnie, new to the gym, is the mother of Alana. She is determined to make Alisha notice her daughter, which could lead to a rivalry with Ann.
Mandy, the mother of Olivia, puts her faith in Alisha to make her daughter a top cheerleader.
Shannon, the mother of Brooke, finds herself caught between her desire to win and her fear for her daughter's injured back.
Making sure the poor have food is a basic form of national security. Starving masses lead to internal uprisings.
I dunno. It's working pretty well for the North Korean government.
Yeah, but they also have those radios that stream propoganda into the kitchens 24/7. And that would be way too expensive to do here. Plus you know SOMEONE would get all up in arms about how that is socialism or some shit
I am doing MUCH better on the weekends and during the workday with food and stopping when I am full. But the evenings are killing me - I am just making crappy choices left and right. So that is my focus right now. Need to figure out why I am doing that.
Other than that, I finally have a good gym routine going, which is awesome. I am getting stronger and doing more, so progress on that end is good
I have literally taken 1 lunch in the past 3 or 4 months. Pretty standard where I work - but we don't leave early either. We are just ridiculously busy.
Aliens only ever visit folks in the southwestern United States and, occasionally, England.
Well, they sometimes visit well known landmarks around the world. Only landmarks though, as they wouldn't want to confuse the Americans that are trying to figure out where they are.
Wait, what's wrong with a subaru? Is this just yet another installment in dev trying to disinvite herself from a fruity drink with me in Hawaii?
I think subarus are awesome - hell, my Mom worked for subaru for 15yrs so I grew up with them. I just don't want to be taken out by one on my way to a twilight panel
Even crazier since ComicCon doesn't even start until Thursday - so She was getting there two days early to get in line. For Twilight.
Granted I have waited in line from very very early in the morning for many hours for LOST at ComicCon. But I got there that morning. And looked both ways before I crossed the street.
The Twilight Saga community is mourning the loss of 53-year-old fan Gisella G., who died this morning in anticipation of attending Breaking Dawn: Part 2's celebrity panel at Comic-Con later this week.
"I'm so sorry to hear the devastating news about Gisella G," tweeted Ashley Greene. "My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
"This is horrible," Nikki Reed writes. "So sad. I'm speechless."
According to San Diego police, the attendee reportedly tried to run across a crosswalk to secure her place in line when the unidentified driver of a Subaru Outback didn't see her in time. Unconscious and suffering a bleeding head wound, Gisella was taken to the hospital where she later died.
The film's producers (on behalf of Lionsgate and Summit) released a joint statement shortly after, offering their condolences. "The entire Twilight community [is] saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego. ”
In the hours since the fan's tragic death, an online petition has been set up asking for a moment of silence for the deceased fan during the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 panel.
Comic-Con starts on Thursday, July 12 and runs through Sunday, July 15. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and more of the Breaking Dawn: Part 2's stars are confirmed to attend.
I give money to homeless people. I don't care if what they buy with it. I think it's a mitzvah to give to people without. Without what? That's for them to decide.
I do, too.
This is where I am at.
The tone of this article is what gets me though. If you prefer to give to soup kitchens or other resources for the homeless, cool. But the "ew, ick, homeless people suck and will waste your money away" vibe I get from the article irritates me to no end.
Oh, and HAB? My uterus is crying real tears right now. I don't want to see anymore pictures of the 3 kid adorableness.
Maybe it will help if I tell you the age difference is amazeballs. AMAZEBALLS! Wait until yours are older then have another one. Trust me, you'll thank me.
My sister and I are 10yrs apart and my Mom LOVED it. Her only concern was that we would not be close when we were older. She need not have worried, we are super close and have always been (just in different ways as we have grown obviously).
a good naming story - this chick really wanted a name, but her husband refused to discuss until she was in labor and forced her into a name she didn't like that much before leaving the hospital. Supposedly he was pushed into it by his family.
Let me guess - said mayor did not reduce his own pay to minimum wage, did he?
Actually, he did. I'm on my phone but check the WSJ article on this.
According to one council member, the mayor asked to raise taxes but city council rejected the plan while not offering up any viable alternatives. Salaries were cut so as to preserve health/other benefits. Apparently some of the financial trouble stems from a massive arbitration award that the city couldn't afford and is trying to negotiate down.
Huh. I take it back then.
I mean, it is still a super shitty thing to do. But at least he did it to himself, too?
I think it depends on the Mom and on the family. All of my friends have had their Moms in the delivery room with them, but I wouldn't find it odd if someone did not want their mom there either. I also think that most Moms would probably feel pretty special being invited to be there, even if they couldn't attend due to distance.
I am not sure what I will want, but in the end I will probably have my Mom in there. I was in the room with my BFF when her daughter was born - it was me, her mom and her two sisters (and her H, of course).
Since she won primary physical custody, I have no doubt that she has something on him.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes agreed that daughter Suri should live primarily with her mother in New York with generous visitation by her father, PEOPLE has learned.
The terms of physical custody of the 6-year-old was a key element of the settlement announced Monday just days after Holmes filed for divorce, according to sources.
"They both love their daughter," says one source, "and Tom thinks she should be with her mother."
The superstar also "didn't want his family dragged through the mud," says the source. "Neither one of them wanted this to be hashed out in public."
Holmes has long loved New York and will enroll her daughter, who had been home-schooled by tutors, into a private school in Manhattan in the fall, according to sources.
Holmes, 33, and Suri recently moved into a three-bedroom apartment in New York City, where the pair have been spotted out. Cruise, 50, has been at home in Los Angeles with his teenage kids, Connor, 17, and Bella, 19, before returning to work Monday on his sci-fi thriller Oblivion.
