I love my DH to death and he has truly been one of the most doting men on the planet since we found out I was pregnant, but OMG I sent my BF a message that was like "we have to have dinner this weekend so I can have some non-baby adult conversation!" I feel like everything we talk about is related to the baby, nursery, etc.
Plus I can tell he's miffed we've had to wait this long to find out the sex. Like it's my fault that my appts are slightly off so I have to wait until the end of the 20th week.

I'm re-vamping our budget and trying to figure out costs for the baby but I'm clueless. Any suggestions? I have daycare, insurance(will go up for a family plan I'm guessing), diapers, and misc. I hope to EBF so I shouldn't need much for food and what not.
C has recently started screaming uncontrollably in his carseat. Last night we had to go somewhere half an hour away and he screamed the entire way there and back. Radio static, pacifier, talking to him...nothing helps. He is cheery as can be the minute you pick him up though. Consequently, I am becoming a hermit.
I just called DH at work to chat. I mentioned before hanging up that "by the way, there's a 4.5 ft giraffe in a box on our front steps, it was delivered today". (He's getting home from work before me.)
He responds "what?? you got that thing?? I thought you were joking!! Don't worry, it's okay, but I am just surprised."
Um, oops? I don't know what he didn't understand when I asked if he liked it, then said "I'm buying it".

Aside from daycare, my kid is cheap. A lot of it will depend on whether you're a shopper or not. Some people probably need a line for clothing; I rarely buy anything (but have a good stash of hand-me-downs and bulk purchased clothes). Same with toys; you can spend a lot or nearly nothing.
We did start college savings pretty quickly, so that's a budget item for us.

You totally should have kept this a secret. Kept him wondering as he pulled up to your house...lol.

We're cheap. We've already discussed how we don't want/need a bunch of toys and swings and stuff. Most of our clothes that aren't gifted I'll get at a consignment shop. Plus, this is the first grandbaby on both sides of our families so I'm expecting quite a bit of spoiling. Hopefully we can EBF so our only real expense is diapers and daycare.
My morning sickness back and I'm once again a total waste of a sahm. Dh would never say a word, but sometimes the look on his face when he walks into a toy explosion, sub par dinner and dd and I watching hgtv is pretty telling. I hope it ends soon.

I totally believe babies can be as cheap as you want. I really don't spend that much on DS. We BF and CD. Our water bill increased $1.50 a month. Now that he is eating more solids that increased some. Clothes really aren't that bad. He hates every toy we've bought, minus Sophie, but loves the remotes, tupperware, totes, etc.
You can buy the bigger gear secondhand as well. Get a new carseat though. Our crib is from IKEA and is awesome. I love it.
College savings is a big one for us but that all depends on what you want/can afford.
Our health insurance went from $45 to $75 a month.
I spend more than I said I would on DS but I could stop if need be.

DS watched SO MUCH TV when I had morning sickness.

co-pays and Rxs if your baby gets sick a lot
budget for formula just in case. Currently we are spending $80/month on formula (going to switch to costco brand to bring it down to $60/month as soon as I am out of Similac).
clothing- I am constantly overspending in this category, esp. since I have a girl!
and then the first year baby odds and ends will come up, like childproofing stuff, convertible carseats, dishes/sippy cups for when they are on solids.

I now say "do you want to watch tv?" And she yells "DD!"

Do you have a mirror up on the seat back to see him? If so, on my BMB, several women found that removing the mirror reduced the crying

Already scored a practically new stroller from a friend! Holler! Just need the carseat for it.
And it appears our insurance won't change. DH already pays for a family plan. Score.

That's awesome! If you're doing disposable diapers I know some people would start having them auto-delivered from Amazon with subscribe and save discounts starting in the 2nd trimester. That way they could stockpile and only pay a little at a time.
I'm a sahm but I know that even around here (rural) daycare is still expensive. Maybe if you start saving that monthly expense now, it won't be missed too much when the baby gets here?

I've thought about starting to buy diapers but I don't want to have too many of a wrong size. Plus we may get a ton from family. I will probably start when we hit 3rd tri.
We move in the first week of Jan. Once we're settled we're going to go look and choose a daycare so we can do exactly that. I hope to have one chosen by late Jan/early Feb. I'm already working on my spreadsheet, we just need to go visually see them.
Also, I went to the bump to look at BMB and couldn't understand why all the people on the June BMB were talking about NT scans and such... Shouldn't they be past that?
And then I realized I'm due in April with this kid, not June like DS.
I feel like I've been a pretty awesome cook lately. It feels nice (in a 1950s kind of way) to cook nice meals for the three of us. This week I've made:
-Acorn squash stuffed with sausage, onions, and sage -Fettucini Alfredo with scallops -Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli -Roasted chicken with fall vegetables
I want to go crazy buying clothes, but I am forcing myself to wait until we find out the sex. (And by forcing myself to wait, I mean my H and I have already bought 4 outfits.)
I have a small pile of new gender-neutral baby clothes and I haven't even gotten a BFP yet.
I stopped buying them once I realized that at this point, we would be back home by the time I have a baby (and thus could use DD's newborn clothes). But man, newborn clothes are so hard to resist.
I kind of hate pumping and don't really want to stick with it beyond twice a day max (currently just treading water at 3x a day). I can't decide where to draw the line between my needs and that of my daughter. Being a mom is hard!
I found that I got more milk first thing in the morning than I did while pumping at work. So, I added a session in the am. Sometimes it was before DD woke up and sometimes it was just after I nursed her. In either scenario, I still got a ton more milk. And then I only pumped twice while I was at work.
