I shit you not. A couple that we were friends with and their 3 kids. I stopped by to check on the house this afternoon, and they have completely moved in. No one was there. My lawyer's office was already closed, I'm calling first thing in the morning.
I'm speechless. The wife had posted on fb recently about money problems. I can't even believe it. I'm wondering what he's told them about the situation. I exchanged a few nice fb messages with the wife 2 months ago, so I'm guessing they don't know that I still own the house and am paying the mortgage.
I'm confused, I must have missed the backstory, but whose house is this? Where was he living before? Or was he living there then decided to allow a different family to move in?
It's our house. We had to have a one year separation before I could file for divorce. He refused to move out, and also refused to pay the mortgage. So I've been paying the mortgage for the past year while he's been living there. It looks like he's still living there too, in the basement.
I was MIA for a little bit, so I missed any recent updates...you were finally able to file in/around November, right? How long until things would be final and he has to move out of your house?
I'm afraid to ask but... What happens if he gives no response?
That would be the best thing. Then we can just go before a judge and I pretty much get what I'm asking for, as long as it's not crazy unfair. And it's not.

I know none of the backstory, but OMFG. Fingers crossed that he just doesn't respond. I had a friend whose husband never did and it ultimately worked out for the best for her. I hope it is the same for you.

Holy god. I don't know the story, but it sounds like he's not doing this out of the goodness of his heart (and even then it would be inappropriate) but more likely to (a) collect rent and (b) screw you? And now it's on you to evict a family friend with 3 little kids right before Christmas. How nice of him.
