I'm 18 months and counting. I was on BCP for 10+ years and my cycles are clockwork/textbook regular. Don't freak out if it takes a while, but also, don't be afraid to seek out help. We've just started our testing with the RE - and have already learned that MH had no sperm in his sample, so we have quite a ways to go if we elect to pursue having a child.
I was off BC pills for about seven months but got pregnant the first time without using any sort of BC at all. I am on the fence about a second but am having to remind myself that if we go for it I can't plan for perfectly (my work is very heavy during certain parts of the year which makes timing important) based in the ease of my first.
One month after we decided to "not try but not prevent." FWIW I was always nervous about having trouble conceiving because my mother had such a hard time conceiving me and was told she may never have children. I feel very lucky that it happened so quickly for us.

Five years and counting. We know what our issues are, but haven't steps to address them. Will likely do that this year, and hopefully we'll be successful.

First pg - 1 month off BC. Due to an insurance eff up I didn't get my refill in time. We knew there was a chance of getting pg and while we werent considering it "trying" we knew it could happen. Unfortunately had a m/c. Second pg - 2 months trying, had a chemical pg. Third pg - 4 months trying, another m/c Fourth pg - 5 months trying, finally had a successful pregnancy

First time - 26 cycles and two IVF attempts.
Second time - total surprise. We weren't trying but though it was ridiculous to actively prevent based on our history. #3 was born when the twins were 26 months old.
Eta-I just realized the 26 month similarity. Interesting and kind of weird.
