trends that you aren't into

Tell me about the trends that you just aren't that into. For me, I don't get the mounted white animal head/ antelope horns painted white trend. And Im just not that into chevron. I have some friends that are way into both and I love their sense of style, but I guess i just don't share it.  And the mirrored furniture trend. As a mom of two people under 4 ft tall, the prospect of mirrored furniture makes me cringe and want to go buy stock in windex.

On the other hand, I'm in love with the vintage industrial trends and the gray neutrals that seem so ubiquitous right now.

White kitchen cabinets. 
Antiqued finishes on ALL THE THINGS!
Crystal doorknobs
Wallpaper's recent resurgence (I don't dislike how it looks, but I'd never in a million years use it myself)
Chevron pattern

I could keep going if I thought more.

YES on the antique finishes and especially wallpaper! I feel like home trends are all well and good when you can change it to keep it updated. All I can think of is all the wallpaper scraping that is down the road. I did find the whole faux wall-paper thing (giant stencils, i guess) kind of interesting. Similar look without the future pain of scraping it all off.

I pretty much like everything everyone listed above. I also was drooling while walking down the Target aisle and, apparently, their decor sucks. Oh well.

I am over repainting beautiful wood cabinets white. I am noticing that quite often it just looks cheap. I also don't understand the whole wine/Tuscan themed kitchen. To each their own.

Along the same lines, I have a major pet peeve - when people hang pics too high or hang a frame that is more of a table frame on the wall. If you want to display your family pic, get yourself a nice frame and draw attention to it. I have a GF who has her entrance way decorated with family pics, but they are in these tiny frames and they are all hung too high. I really want to take her to Home Goods and get some good frames, but would never say anything.

I dislike chevron, Ikat, wall words and wallpaper. But I LOVE my white kitchen cabinets! FWIW, they are painted plywood, not painted over stained wood.

Hmmm...most of these things I like. LOL.

I cringe when nice, quality wood cabinets are painted white, but not cheap or anything oak is painted.

Also, I like mosaic tiles, farmhouse sinks, the enamel vessel sink SBP posted.

I think Chevron is OK, but I'm not looking for ways to incorporate it into my house.

Yes!! Exactly.  It's not that I dislike white. Quite the opposite,
actually.  It's just that so many people are doing this expecting to get
magazine results.  I also think sometimes they just look better before.
Like, Katie Bower. I know she said that the pre-white cabinets were
cruddy, but I LOVED those dark cabinets.

I don't like ikat. At all. Nor do I like the pattern on 95% of rugs. I know, I know, it's shameful.

I do like white kitchens, when done correctly. I don't understand tile. At all, ever.

Most light fixtures I'm seeing lately are just wrong. Wrong in size, wrong in design, wrong.

I feel like I'm out of date on the current trends. As long as it doesn't go back to the faux Italy look I think I'm good. Fake grapes and red wine walls don't look good in 99% of houses.

And I love my white kitchen cabinets. You can't go wrong with white cabinets in a classic shape. They're the little black dress of kitchens.

But those cabinets in the picture above are awful and should be burned.

I don't like the trend where the upper and lower cabinets are different colors.

I hate word prints thrown in a frame and called art. Just because it can be printed off word in 30 seconds doesn't necessarily mean that it should be!
I am however okay with decently executed subway art and wall words.

I also hate how there is no in between style wise lately in both blogs, pinterest mags etc. It's all either cheap painted over crap that still looks cheap or high end overkilled and out of the realm of reality for most people in our average little houses. I want ideas that work in the real world!
And yes, stop with the project hacks..if you want an end table buy a damn end table..does anyone really have the time to hack an IKEA shelf and a pallet in 14 pieces, glue it all back together, repaint, add wheels and build drawers out of cereal boxes?

I also don't like overdecorated nurseries. Kids come with their own amount of crap..why add it all before they get here? And what are you going to do with inevitable toy invasion. I mean, I like decorated too, but I just feel like in a kid room their stuff should lead to some extent.

I love white kitchen cabinets done right. I have perfectly fine honey oak ones so unfortunately I'm stuck with them for the foreseable future.

I can't stand the pallet love. I go out into the warehouse here at work and just look at the stacks of them, thinking how nasty and dirty they are and about how there are a bunch of people who would take these and use them for something to eat on. Blech!

Open concept living areas. I like my semi-closed off kitchen. It has great flow into the dining area and living room. I like that much more than one giant room.

One trend I do love is oil rubbed bronze fixtures.

Homes done entirely in neutrals. We have hundreds of colors--pick one.
Chevrons
Words as art
Painting bad decor in bright colors to 'freshen' it.

I agree with a lot of the above except I love white cabinets.

Shag carpet - it's so impractical and just dated looking.
Moroccan patterns - mark my words, this will be the hallmark design that dates this period.
open shelving - it's cheap b/c people don't want to buy cabinets, it's impractical and dirty.
DARK hardwood floors - unless you have no kids, no pets, and 10 foot ceilings w/lots of lights, not a good design choice. I also don't like it when something like floors severely limits the other design choices you can make.
Grays w/yellow or yellow-green is our generation's harvest gold & avocado.

Most of the first complaints describes my entire house...lol. I love it and all my friends compliment our building choices...we are the only one of our friends with a white kitchen, gray walls, etc. it's fresh and new around here! I also love CHEVRON!!!

I love a lot of trends, but I HATE exposed bulb light fixture. I especially hate them if they are on pinterest created from a bowl, fish bowl, vase or other random object.

It just makes me think of this weird throwback where people are like, "Look here, I have e-lec-tricity!" This isn't 1895.

I agree with most of these, but what is with the tile hate? All tile? Tile floors? What do you want in the shower?
