The other bridesmaids are sort of failing in the planning the shower part of the whole bridesmaid job description. Lots of reasons, I get it, no big deal. However, asking for ideas is like pulling teeth. I throw something out there and all I get is, yes that's great. Ok, so I have an assignment for you, if you choose to accept it.
Share some thoughts on a "lucky in love" (the Irish version not gambling) bridal shower. It will be Saturday, March 16th. The location is a wine bar that has food. They call themselves a "wine market," whatever that is.
I really want to avoid the over the top cheesiness.
Ideas I have come up with so far but nothing is final and I'm really looking for additional suggestions:
Invitation idea: Found this on etsy, it's even the perfect purple.
Guest book: fabric squares (I was loving this but now I'm a little over it) turned into a quilt
Favors: Little tera cotta pots with "four leaf clovers." You know, there's bound to be a four leaf clover somewhere in the mix.
The food is going to be apps: cheese platter, hummus plate and "door" pizza (straight off their menu). And there will be wine, lots and lots of wine for me.
Her wedding colors are: purple and silver. So green, purple and silver is the color scheme. And...go!
I am not familiar with the Irish game 'lucky in love' which is odd because I'm half Irish.
How about Irish car bomb cupcakes for dessert? I am planning to bring these to a St. Patricks Day party that day. www.bakedbyrachel.com/2010/03/guinness-and-baileys-cupcakes/ Some restaurants may charge a plating fee if you bring outside desserts.
For one friend, we asked the guests to bring the couple's favorite recipes. We sent out recipe cards with the invite. The cards were part of a set where you put the recipe cards into book with plastic dividers. The bride and groom got handwritten recipes for great aunt Mabel's award winning lemon meringue pie. This only works if the couple and their families like to cook.
If the crowd is drinking, you may want to have a signature drink. For a bride with a pink wedding, we served cosmos, for a bride with a green wedding, we had appletinis.
