The area I live in has a canal on the register of historic places. You can bike, hike and kayak down it, and much of it remains the same as it did 100 years ago with lock workings and towpaths, it's super cool.
Also, the town I live in has the oldest volunteer fire department in the country. I realise this one is identifiable, but I don't care

Cashew chicken was invented in my town. My town is also the birthplace of Route 66. These are both identifiable. Oh well. Pretty much all the other fun facts I could share are identifiable as well.
The building I live in and the building I work in are both historical landmarks. The upside of that for work is that the windows can't be altered so I have an office window that opens (fresh air!!!) -- very uncommon in skyscrapers here.
The American gay pride movement was born like 3 blocks away from where I live.
The town over apparently hosts north America's biggest Irish Festival. I think the town name was also said on HIMYM once which is a big deal for a two traffic light town.

are you in TN? if so, i totes know where you are if not, the people of the tennessee town to which i am referring are lying liars.
Nope. In Ontario Canada. Our town could be full of lying liars who lie about the festival. Oh, we were only called the meth capital of Canada!
Oh, also live near Justin Biebers home. Very cool if your 13. I went to high school with some people in his movie. He isn't well liked here, the U.S can have him.
When you walk down my street you pass redwoods and end up at a water front park. If you go the other direction you are up a "mountain" with views around the bay. Drive a bit and you get to the golden gate bridge, wine country, dramatic cliffs, great surfing and cool beaches.
We've got Ronald Reagan's body and this is where the Rodney King trial happened. Also Poltergeist was filmed here.
Also it smells like fart.
We once drove through Birmingham, Alabama. It also smells like fart.
There are a bunch of ranches and farms right near the freeway I have to take to get to work, so every morning while I sip my coffee and hum along to The Lumineers, I get to inhale the delightful odor of FARRRRRRRT.

This is my entire commute. Cow farm on one side of the freeway, pig farm on the other. And I don't have air conditioning, so I'm basically gagging the entire 20 miles because the smell is so bad with my windows down.
