I scored a 63. Johlise, I was scared that you said 100 until I got to the end and saw the high score is 225. I was thinking 100 was the high end, which would have had to mean you don't vaccinate at all. And I would judge that HARD.
169-130 Super Nutty, Ultra-Crunchy, Granola Earth Mama! (Granted, i'm on the low end of that group.) I'm not surprised; after all, the degree i'm about to finish is a masters of environmental education
Even on a tablet, I blame all wrong words in Swype
True, but I did live in Madison, WI for 4.5 years, which has a similar crunchy vibe. Ratio of Subaru's to non Subaru's is pretty high there too. I did shop at a co-op when I lived there, but have reverted to my old ways here with Met Market. Fantastic produce AND Doritos. Holla!
TBF, I would practice a lot more of this if H was on board. I would have wanted to have a home birth. I didn't b/c H was opposed, and it turned out I had pre eclampsia anyway. I would like to use more homeopathic remedies but H thinks it's a bunch of BS. We do not CD but I feel HORRIBLE about it and would have considered it if our daycare provider allowed it. Maybe for #2. We are using up the last of our reg cleaning solutions and will replace with more natural products (any recommendations on how to make our own?). Also, I wear make-up like maybe 3 days a week but selected wear make up all the time b/c my products are not ALL natural (only my face make up). I shave my arm pits every day but only shave my legs and lady bits maybe twice a month.
FWIW - John was horribly oppossed to home birth before we had T. Now we are actually actively considering that for our next one when the time comes. We've been doing some talking about it, then we actually met with a midwife to ask her questions about his concerns what they do etc. Now we are planning to meet with a few couples who have had a home birth so that John can here the guys side of the home birth experience and see if it's something he'd like.
Homeopathic remedies - Seriously are/can be fabulous!! Nothing could be done for my gall bladder attacks while pregnant by the time I figured out that was what they were. I finally found a homeopathic remedy that I could take and the last 5 weeks before she was born no more attacks. Honestly I know I changed my diet but I'd still cheat at times when I first started taking the pellets I'd still get attacks but not the last 5 weeks. So I'm a firm believer in Homeopathic remedies.
The truth of it all is I was raised in a home where we did a lot of different herbal/homeopathic things etc so for me it was normal and when I got married John didn't know me any other way and I didn't give him the option of having an opinion about what I'd been raised with so for him it's become normal and when things come up in conversation he hears my side of why I do what I do. Over time he's started to adapt and become more open to it. So I wouldn't give up. Sometimes things just take time. When I brought up home birth with Taylina he didn't want to hear it.. but every few months I'd mention something in passing, not to make conversation but just something I'd read for him to think about....
my crunchyness in summary: i bf as long as bjl wants..not my call. i don't care if she's 7 and wants my milk, i will give it to her. she sleeps in my bed all night homeopathic remedies...i *hate* taking tylenol, etc. i only do when i'm near death, and at that point it's too late..really. i make my own cleaning supplies..laundry detergent, general purpose cleaner, and i use baking soda to clean just about everything. i wash my own cloth diapers..
I lose out due to laziness. Making my own stuff...there's just not enough hours in the day or I would.
it's soooooo easy though! it took me about 30 mins to make 4 gallons of laundry detergent...i finally finished my first tub recently..it lasted 8 months... also cost me about $8/gallon (i split the total with friends)...works for CD's.

What recipe do you use? Do you mind sharing?
i couldn't find the actual link/website i used last time..but this is the recipe
oh yeah jamer, if you're interested, you can make your own oxiclean, too, for even cheaper/more-natural results. it's baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, although i don't remember the amounts... but something else to think about

i think that was about the summary of it?
Let's call it a tie
once i start using a diva cup (it's on my radar once my costco boxes run out), we'll call it a tie...but until then...
We are using up the last of our reg cleaning solutions and will replace with more natural products (any recommendations on how to make our own?).
All our cleaning supplies: A steam mop for the floors (can also be used to clean and sanitize shower/tub tile/doors/etc., garbage cans, etc.) Laundry detergent (still haven't made homemade...); I use trader joes brand Charlie's soap oxiclean-ish stuff (forget what it's called) Dish waster detergent (haven't found and EF one yet that i like in the dishwasher) Liquid dish soap (biokleen, earth friendly brand or seventh generation) Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soaps (almond is nice, or unscented) Baking soda White vinegar Bon Ami cleaner (i only use it for the bathtub) Toilet cleaner (it's either EF brand or 7th gen) Enzyme drain cleaner: www.intohealth.com/earth-friendly-drain-opener-2-lb/?gclid=CNSw0sjY1LYCFSHhQgodmQUA9g Essential oils Lavender hydrosol spray (this is the one i use: store.pelindabalavender.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=801); smells nice, is good at getting rid of any stinky pet smells and is mildly antimicrobial
Almost everything i use baking soda and/or vinegar (vinegar is a great window cleaner!), sometimes with dr. bronner's mixed in.
Cheap, fantastic foaming hand soap: Get a new or reused foaming hand pump Add 1 part dr. bronners to ~8 parts water, mix Add essential oils (for antimicrobial properties or just to smell nice)
Drains: To treat a clog, use this thingy (it says it's one-time-use, but we clean it and reuse lots of times): www.amazon.com/Cobra-Products-00412BL-Zip-It-Cleaning/dp/B000BO9204 Follow with enzyme cleaner (above) To maintain, Pour/spoon baking soda (~1/4c) into drain, add vinegar (~1c). Let sit 5 minutes and rinse with sub-boiling water.
