I can't get with the special tea brewing. H does this and loves it. I hate buying him tea at Teavana and spending $30-40 on TEA. Just seems wrong.
Well, I do drink some Teavana and have one of their Perfect Tea Makers. In general the more expensive teas are better, but I typically buy Republic of Tea, which isn't as crazy expensive as Teavana.
Best thing. I pre boil water for whatever I need to cook, too. Not saying it tastes diff from microwave. I just love my kettle.
My parents thought it was silly but now they love using it.
I admit, I only read first page or 2 of Canada post so maybe I'm just perpetuating a debate.
I was actually checking out one tonight. I do like the thought of pushing a button and getting a perfect temperature. The one I was looking at will heat up to specific temperatures, so that's cool.

I just told him last week that Teavana closed so he'd stop asking me to buy him more tea when I go to the mall. Don't out me.

When my awesome one died after 9 great years, I replaced it w a cheap one from Costco for about $30? I didn't get a temp regulated one. I figure it's usually already cooled to the better temp for tea by the time I remember that I boiled the jug.
I've also made water explode. I had it in a measuring cup and was boiling it to leave in there for steam to clean my microwave. I put it in for the normal amount of time, walked away, and BOOM! Opened the microwave door and absolutely no water in the cup.
It made for easy clean up in the microwave though.
Ugh, I guess this has been a discussion lately? Lol. My friend that I work with is driving me crazy with her tea rules. If I steep my bag too long it will be bitter, the temp can't be too hot or it will be bitter, blah blah blah blah. I am sure there is better tea, but at 3 am a microwave and Lipton green tea works just fine.
What is wrong with a proper stove top kettle? None of the uneveness of a microwave and none of the plastic flavor/burn the baby risk of an electric kettle.
Electric kettles (never made from plastic, ever - always made from metal) are the best thing I ever learned about when moving to England. You can boil water far faster than on the stove and so makes making anything with boiling water so much faster (pasta, potatoes, etc). If I moved back to the States, I would so buy a metal electric kettle.

Microwaver here, but now you're making me regret selling the electric kettle we go for our wedding. We never really used it but it never occurred to me to use it to speed up boiling water for FOOD!
