This thread makes me very sad in that I have no idea what most of you are referring to.
Clearly you and I need to read the books.
Eh just watch the show. The first book was good but they get progressively worse from there. I read book one in like four days because I couldn't put it down, but I've been in book four for a month because I never really want to pick it up. I just get the feeling that the author is milking his success by publishing filler books.
How many are we talking to get into it? 2? How many are there? If you tell me it's longer than the Wheel of Time, I'm gonna have to bow out.
I had to start the first book twice. I got about 2/3 of the way through it and lost interest. But my brother shamed me into reading it again, and once I got invested in the characters I was pretty well hooked.
It is not nearly as long as WoT, but it's up there. Book 5 is the most recent, and there are two more planned after that. 900+ pages for each. And it has the same feeling sometimes of just spinning it's wheels to milk the series for all it's worth before wrapping things up.
I don't get HBO or I would. I wouldn't see them until A&E or USA starts marathoning them.
Season 1 is available now on DVD.
I read the first book in a weekend and took about a week for the second book, so I had no issues getting into them, but I think the series was motivating me. I haven't picked up the third one yet and I honestly couldn't tell you why.
Would you feel the same way if it was Obama's head being used?
YOu obviously don't watch the show or read the books. I'd be totally offended.
There aren't black people in Westeros.
Anyway, I made the point to a friend - the head that looks like GWB was supposed to be one of the Stark-loyal folks, so he was a good guy staked by a megalomaniac. Not really that offensive to GWB, if you think about it.
Maybe a Frey. They seem a little dim. And if they lived in Murica they'd be evangelicals, with all those kids.
I find it hard to believe they can't afford rubber heads. The production costs on this show are astronomical. They filmed the last season in Croatia, Ireland and Iceland!
I was also thinking Frey. Where were they in Croatia?
Dubrovnik. HBO did a mini special about filming locations. Since Dubrovnik is on the coast, they used that to film some of Dani's scenes and King's Landing, I think?
