Save my relationship here. SO just looked at me like I'm insane over the way I prepare hot dogs. I know I can't possibly be the only one who does it this way.
For the app peeps... How do you cook your hotdogs most often?
Grill 'em Cook 'em in a pan Boil 'em Nuke 'em I never eat hot dogs Special nitrate filled snowflake
I typically microwave them but my absolute favorite is to slice and fry them. When they are crispy and brown I put in a big squeeze of ketchup and let it get bubbly and hot.
I don't eat them myself, but the all white meat turkey dogs are a hit with my kids. I usually do them in a skillet or cut them up and cook them with something else.
I cook mine in a pan on the stove. I prefer to grill them.
When I first lived with H and the first time we made hot dogs - he cooked them in the oven. I didn't believe him, in fact, I called his mother! Because I didn't believe that was how she cooked them and I had no idea how!
H thinks I'm insane, but I grew up wrapping the hot dog in a paper towel, wetting the whole thing, then nuking it. It essentially steams it.
He recently learned a trick to put a hot dog in a bun, wrap it in a dry paper towel and nuke it. The dog cooks and steams the bun at the same time. Timing is tricky though to not dry out the bun.
i don't like hot dogs but will eat them if I can smother them in coney sauce, cheese and onions. H insists that they be broiled in the oven which makes a mess of the broiler pan. I'm not cleaning it and he'll let it sit dirty forever. I just want to throw away the broiler pan so he can't use it anymore.
