We had hot dogs for dinner tonight! Hebrew National, of course. DH and I only eat them grilled, but my kid hates them that way and insists I nuke them. Yuck.
My mom used to boil them growing up, or grill them. I like them grilled or over a campfire, or from a hot dog place or sports game, etc., otherwise I don't really eat them.
I fucking LOVE hotdogs. And no one makes a better hotdog than this guy:
This is the Dawgfather. He sells hot dogs in front of the SUB at my old university. That guy rules. If you don't have any money for a hot dog, he'll just give you one, and you can pay him the next time. He sometimes wears one of the school varsity jackets, but it says "Professor of Dawgology" on it. I miss him and his hot dogs.
My first choice would be ripped. i.e. deep fried, preferably in tallow.
I generally split and griddle mine. My DH and DS prefer theirs steamed in beer. I also like them on the grill and will sometimes cook a whole lb while the coals are hot from something else- then I freeze them and microwave them as needed.
I prefer Boars Head or Nathan's. I top with Nathan's mustard, relish and chopped onion. DS does yello mustard and relish. DH does homemade kraut and Dijon mustard.
*nitrite snowflake* lol I grew up eating boiled hotdogs (I still remember the first time I had a grilled hot dog at a church cookout - SO MUCH BETTER than boiled! When DH and I fix them now we wrap them in bacon and pan fry or grill them. It's a good thing we don't eat hot dogs often!

I stick it in my convection/toaster oven - I classified that as grilling - although I guess its baking. I like them to get a little charred on the edges - the thought of boiled hot dog does not sound appeasing to me.
