Do you mow your own lawn? So embarrassed...

It costs about $35 per visit to have someone come mow the lawn here. So we got a mower, and I've been mowing the lawn for about 2 years. We moved to a new house in October, and every single time I mow, I fall down the hill we have, right on my ass. Usually, I just brush it off and keep going. This time, the neighbor saw me and was all concerned. I'm /so/ embrarrassed. I'm wondering if that $35 isn't worth it. Lol.

It takes over an hour to do to the whole lawn. I can't brace myself. The entire backyard is downhill, lol.

I would (and do) pay for this service. Falling down a hill while operating a lawn mower sounds potentially dangerous.

it is worth it for us to pay to have the lawn mowed. but we used to have a lawn with a large hill and mowed it ourselves - can you mow it from side to side and not up/down the hill? that made it easier for us to do...

Heck no, my husband mows. This sounds funny, but probably dangerous.

Do you have a neighborhood teen who can do it, maybe for $15 or $20/visit?

DH does our lawn and enjoys it. If it was my responsibility, I would hire someone. Do you think your hill will be an extra charge? I would still consider it, even if it was a little more expensive.

we started paying someone last year to do it - DH actually likes doing it- but doesn't like the time it takes him away from the kids on the weekends - so it's very worth the $40 every other week to have it done.

My husband doesn't live with me, and hasn't our whole marriage. I do 100% of the house work, bills, shopping, etc. I can't wait until he gets out of the military! Life will be so easy with hm doing 1/2 the stuff.

If you can afford it then it is totally worth the $35. I've realized that there are somethings that are just worth the cost...and falling down a hill is definately one, even if no one saw!

When we first moved into our house I was so annoyed that my husband wanted to hire a landscaper. I am so glad he conviced me. Our yard looks awesome and we have tons of flowers and bushes that I wouldn't be capable taking care of. I would pay someone if you can afford to.

If money isn't an issue, I'd definitely hire someone. My mom used to pay her next door neighbor to mow her lawn when he did his.

We have a tractor with a mower attachment thankfully, or it would take all weekend. For us its a weekly thing, 2-3 hrs each time.

DH mows lawn, and I have done is once or twice here. I'm confused how, after 7 months you haven't found a way down the hill without falling. Is it a really big hill, or super steep? Maybe the mower weighs too much.

Well I don't personally, no, but DH does. We have an acre to mow and even with the riding mower it takes forever.

If it truly does take you an hour to mow and you could potentially injure yourself, I'd pony up the $35 to have someone else do it.

I would pay for lawn service if you can afford it. It wouldn't be worth the risk of injuring yourself.

Or allergic to grass. I can't even be outside when our neighbor is mowing and we have a 2 acre lot.

We used to spend about two hours per week mowing at our old house. We bought a nice new mower and the house ended up selling a year later. Now our yard is a postage stamp and we pay a kid $20 to mow and trim. Best $20 I've ever spent, but I feel kind of guilty that we have a shiny new mower just sitting in storage.

I am in charge of lawn care. I don't mind it, but we have a small, flat yard. I would have no issue paying somone else to do it though.

Same here. My parents have landscapers and DH mows. If I was single, I'd pay someone. I don't do yardwork.


If you keep falling, I'd just pay someone. At least you did it for a while and kept trying.

I would pay the $35, but I HATE cutting the lawn and have not done it in 15 years.

We take turns cutting the grass - more of a "whoever gets to it first" deal. Ours is pretty easy though.

If I were falling I would definitely pay the $35 to have someone else come do it!
