I need to AW my run today, not for pace (although that was good- 8:24 pace, neg splits, last 4 miles were 8:11, 8:10, 8:05, 8:03), but for the actual run & my DH.
I had a really bad attitude going it this run & taper. Pfitz has left me feeling tired & slow. I'm just burnt out. Most of my long runs have been done in the rain, & it's been the same routes over & over again. 3 marathons in 12 months, I've done them hundreds of times! I was dreading my 22 miler.
Anyway, my DH saw that I was at my limit. There's this paved trail across town that I've been wanting to try, but since it's most popular with bikers, there's only one water stop, & I don't have a water belt. DH volunteered to ride the 22 miles with me & carry water so that I could have a change of pace. <3
You guys, it was so nice. It's out in the country. The sun was shining, birds chirping, roosters crowing, creeks, ponds, happy cows! It was exactly what I needed for an attitude adjustment. It was my first happy run in weeks.

Well, We had a blizzard here! I could have gone to the gym, but decided not to. I did get up and do a quick run up and down my street today for 1.3.
I just got a headlamp and plan on trying it out this week. By the time I get home from work it is dark out, and I work too early in the morning to force myself to get up any earlier. At least in the winter! I am looking forward to adding on some miles now that I have a headlamp.

clseale How are you so fast? Jealous!! I'm sitting here thinking "man, my run was awesome today! Long run well below what I was supposed to run as far as the average." And then I see your speedy times! One day. One day!!
Sorry about the blizzard! I don't know how you ladies up north do it. As much as I complain about the heat, I'd much rather have our hot humid summers to some of the winters you guys have to go through.

F: Masters (60 min), 100 min run (10.7m - first dbl digit since Tucson and it did not feel good) S: planned rest (ETA - we did have DDs bday party so I jumped on a trampoline for a couple hours - I got sweaty and peed my pants a little, ha.) S: planned 2hr ride - was up all night sick to my stomach I CAN NOT believe I missed a workout already - I am SERIOUSLY over this sick bullshit.
All I did was 6.5 yesterday. At least it was pretty speedy...
We're potty training DD2 right now, so its majorly putting a cramp on how much I can get out of the house. At least I'm tapering anyway. I'll try not to freak out about missing a couple 3 or 4 milers.

Friday - Planned Rest Day Saturday - 4mi Race Cancelled due to too much snow/ice on the course. Put some Christmas crap in the attic, but wasn't nearly as motivated as I should have been Sunday - Roads too crappy for my 8mi, so I went to the gym and alternated the arc trainer and treadmill for an equivalent time (no way I could do 8mi on the dreadmill)
Fri: Pilates Sat: 7 miles Sun: 14 miles. My goal was to not slip on the ice and not get hit by a car. It was very close on both accounts. I downloaded a couple songs from Frozen to serve as my theme songs for this training cycle

You are adorable and your husband rocks! May I also add that I am seething with jealousy that you have on shorts and short sleeves! Fri: nothing. I did shovel for an hour. Sat: 11 miles on the treadmill Sun: 50 minutes on the stairclimber and upper body weights
Fri- gym Sat- rest Sun- 5k + warm up and cool down in the (almost) freezing rain =5 miles total. I already awed it in the ransoms thread, but I somehow managed to run a 23:48 and win my age group.
F: Off S: attempted a 30 minute gravel ride (see other thread for taking a friend to the ER) S: no way! Still sick I imagine I won't be working out for a few days since I now have a fever

Attempting to attach photo from yesterday's 5mile snowshoe trek. I surprised DH with snowshoes for Christmas, and we took advantage of the pretty (and briefly above freezing) temps yesterday to go on trails near our house. So much fun!!
Thanks, everyone! Great job all around on workouts, and extra kudos for those cold weather H&Fers. I can't believe the temps!
shelbyann, I wore them for my short run yesterday. & really liked them! I'm going to break them in with a few more runs this week, and then use them on next weekend's 16 miler.

My only activities have been alternating icing and elevating my hand. Hopefully next week the cast will come off and I can get back to some sort of activity.
I really need to up my mileage for the half in three weeks. I ran mostly over 6+ miles all last week, except yesterday. Next week i need to get to the snow cleared trail and bang out at least 10. I havent run more than 8.5 since ohilly. I hate winter. So much.

It's ok! I missed my second week because I had the flu. Life happens!
