I DID A PULL UP. And then I did more pull ups! And then I ran around the box yelling and being a psycho, and everyone laughed at me. Today is the best day!
I ran 5 miles really fast last night! I'm not telling how fast because some of you will laugh that it isn't fast at all. I did finish the 5 miles eight minutes faster than I did earlier this week though, so I'm pretty stoked that I could do it.
Another AW: I am finally surfing well enough that I didn't feel like a tool hanging out in the lineup this morning.

I ran on the treadmill last night and ran for 10 mins straight, twice. I probably could have pushed myself a bit more to do 2-12's but didn't want to not be able to finish the 2nd 10 mins.
Yesterday I took a 1 hour body pump class, and followed it with a 10 mile run with 5 miles @ 10 seconds faster than my goal half marathon pace. Best workout in years!
cinco, it is scary how fast/strong/amazing you are going to be going into these races. It's a little embarrassing how invested I feel in your Boston PR attempt. lol
I've got nothing. Well, unless you count my restraint in not yet shanking anyone during this taper. Work as been a friggin mess this past week. Like, collectively everyone thought it would be a grand idea to get together & lose their damn minds all at once. Add taper crankiness to that, and I have handled this like a champ!

I am SO JEALOUS of your surfing. I grew up going out with my dad all the time and competed in HS but haven't had much opportunity since I moved away for college.

I won't laugh, I'm not fast either. But I'm only competing against myself, so I'm happy with that. You don't need to say how fast, but well done!
My AW is that my knee is fully recovered (minor niggle from ski accident) and this week's runs have felt strong. I'm going to head out for a 13 mile run tomorrow, but if I feel good, then I can stretch it to 15-16. Will take enough gels with me for the extra mileage. I usually know around mile 7-8 how the rest of it will play out.
As of this morning's weigh-in, I've lost 24 pounds since December 2012 and I'm at the point where I need to either buy new pants or see the tailor. More importantly I feel strong and way more energetic than I have in ages.

This is AWESOME!!!! I did a pull up once and I was a crazy psycho too
I ran twice this week. TWICE, for 3-ish slow ass miles. It was lovely. I didn't want to go into this race weekend not even remembering what running feels like, and it's not like I'm going to make it any worse. Achilles is sore, but not brutal.
Corollary to that AW: I'm leaving this morning for Disneyland!!! Hooray!
I'm proud I took the risk and started yoga teacher training. It will be intensive but to know I'm crossing a huge dream off my list, it's all worth it then!!!!
I have gone to the gym 4 times in the past week. I have never been a gym person before. I have completed cardio and weights each time. I felt great each night about having gone. I am sick today and am more upset about missing the gym!
Aww, feel better, emuni04! But good job on the water consumption, I'm sure that's helping you to heal.
It's amazing how much better I feel every morning after drinking 100 oz/day! Plus, I no longer get sluggish during the day. I must have been so damn dehydrated....yikes!

YES. I keep a glass of water at my desk and just refill all day because if it's there, I reach for it and drink without thinking about it. I will often feel kind of off on weekends or when traveling, and I've realized that it's because I'm drinking less water.

I am so jealous of your pull ups! For the first time last weekend I ran 11 miles! It was the first time ever running in the double digits and I was so excited when I was done and the endorphins carried me all the way through dinner then I crashed lol. Me and my running partner will be doing 12 miles this weekend then we are tapering before my first half marathon in 2 weeks.

I started out with two elastic bands (of the strongest colors) looped over the bar. Put my foot in the loop and use the extra help. I had gotten down to the weakest elastic, but my coach realized that I was getting stuck coordinating the rest of my body movement. So for the past couple months I've been doing different exercises to get more strength (jumping pull ups, barbell rows, ring rows, pull ups with my feet supported) and then also practicing the movement of kipping and butterfly without really caring about trying to actually pull myself up as well.
Today I was actually just supposed to be practicing that movement, and without even thinking about it I ended up pulling up and getting my chin over the bar. I think I'd also gotten to a mental block when I'd say "ok, now I'm going to try to do a full pull up," so it took forgetting about it to make it happen.
I ran the furthest I've ever run on Sunday (17mi)! It didn't feel great though until about mile 6. I also want to AW my sister who has come such a long way from someone who HATED running to getting up at 5am to run and running her first half with me tomorrow! !

I almost always hate my runs until I am about halfway through then something kicks in. Congrats to your sister on running her first half! p.s. how do you get the motivation to get up so early? The thought of getting up that early and getting my runs out of the way sound fantastic but I feel like I would be a slug the rest of the day.

Even more exciting that you surprised yourself! I may have to try the bands. That's a good idea
I ran my first 20 miler today, and average pace was 8:36. That is 13 seconds slower than gmp and my gmp is ambitious to say the least. I am on cloud 9 right now.
