I think Starbucks coffee tastes burnt. Nothing there is good. Even the non-coffee stuff is just "meh." Also, I will judge you for getting a Venti anything. Bonus side-eye if it comes with whipped cream.
We are behind on retirement. We contribute weekly and plan to up contributions once our car loan is paid off and have more cash flow. However, we have no intention of putting all extra money into retirement to catch up. Truth be told we would much rather use the money now to maintain/enjoy our lifestyle then save for a time when health problems/mobility issues may prevent us from enjoying it.

I have no interest in ever going to an AI resort or on a Caribbean or Mediterranean cruise (or what-have-you). For many reasons, but the primary reason is thatI wouldn't want to spend a week with the crowd that enjoys AI resorts or Caribbean or Mediterranean cruises.
I think that most people who use the "I messed up on my SAT" or "I am not good at standardized testing" as excuses for their scores probably just aren't as smart as they think they are.
In a similar vein, I think it is ridiculous and a little sad when adults play the "I got into [school that is more elite than the one I went to] but didn't go because blah blah blah" card to try to show that they're smarter than their schooling suggests.

I lie at work pretty much daily. I work in a particular area of the law that is valued highly in my organization but that I hate, so in order to look like a team player and be well-thought of, I lie and act like I'm excited to do the work. Things like "What an interesting idea, I can't wait to get started on that!" come out of my mouth a lot when in reality I could give two shits about it. I have no choice in what area I work in (it's a military assignment), so I just shut up and color.
DH and I have total retirement contributions (including employer match) of about 11% of our income. We could contribute more, but I'm enjoying travel, good meals, nice house etc.
Given my education and industry, I fully believe that my income will be 2-3x more in less than 10 years, so I don't feel too badly about saving less now. (I know that this is a very risky thing to believe)

This is why we went to one of the most expensive AIs in the DR over Christmas. I figured it would weed out the fanny pack-wearers It worked, and we ended up really liking it! We met people who primarily vacation at AIs and who weren't very interested in learning about or experiencing the destinations they visit (which I judge on its own), but they were otherwise fine people to chat with at the pool bar.
I'm sure someone find its flameful that I look down on a lack of curiosity about the world, but I don't think it's flameful enough for this thread's requirements.

I love Starbucks. In my defense, though, I just get Venti cafe mistos usually (i.e. just coffee and milk, no sugar)
My related flameworthy is that I don't care for Tim Hortons coffee. That makes me a bad Canadian.
I hate the MMM board. I have a kid and I think its sooo boring to just talk about babies and baby related things all day. It bums me out though b/c I think the MM/MMM split really did destroy the MM board, which has gotten really dull. I think there are definitely posters sticking solely to MMM who made the MM board more interesting. Can I start a movement to rejoin the two?

The MMM board hardly dictates you only talk about baby or kid things all day. I post on both boards. Your behavior decides if you only stick to that topic all day, not the board. It doesn't have a secret magnetism that keeps you from leaving after posting, I promise.
I don't really care about the news. I know I should, but I don't. I rely on DH to tell me about interesting things in the news each day. I prefer to spend my time GBCN'ing (where I do end up seeing some news), online shopping, or watching TV (not news). Flame away.

Isn't that the point of the MMM board- to talk about baby and kid stuff? I like having a place to ask all of my dumb FTM questions.

No. The MMM board is valuable for those who need baby help/advice or whatever. Also - (a) I don't want all the baby posts in the main MM board, but (b) I also don't want the MMM people to be all "sorry, another baby post" or (c) worse, not posting becuse they don't want to crap up the board. And (d) if someone needs to find a baby-help post fast, it's handier for those post to be in a separate place.
But it does bum me out when people post non-baby stuff there, because I mean, that's what main MM is for. That shows that those people think of MMM as a wholly separate world from MM, and have no intention to ever visit or return to MM, which is the only reason a reasonable, supportive board like MMM even exists. I haven't really paid attention to who those posters are, but maybe those are the baby-crazy people who also ditch their non-kid-having friends because they no longer understaaaaand.
I think that MMM dynamic has changed and I am not sure how to pinpoint what really bothers me about it. Maybe cause it just feels like it's baby talk all the time. Every once in a while someone will talk about preschool or school aged kids but even then it's minimal.
I think it's lame to prefer to 'vacation' (cruises/AIs) over really travel and see the world and learn.
On that note, I'm sure reproducing is going to make me a 'vactioner' as opposed to a traveler for years to come. This makes me sad.
Only if you let it. We are still doing "real" traveling with our LOs and they are 3.5 and 5. We have been traveling with them since they are babies and while I could do without vomiting on planes, etc we still have a great time. I have even seen real backpackers with their babies in their carries in all sorts of locations were you wouldn't think it would be ideal to travel with a LO. There are a million blogs about it. We don't like vacations were you sit around doing nothing so we travel with them and take the ups and downs as they come. So far we have not regretted a single trip with them.

In one of the linked posts from tn on the nostalgia thread, someone said they'd rather discuss diarrhea than babies. That's my favourite part about mmm - no shaming for talking about kids.
Lucy Honeychurch said in a post this week that she couldn't lurk on mmm because it was all kid stuff. I want to know if she was joking or serious. Because yeah, it is all kid stuff. That's the point. I really hope she was being TIC.
Exactly. It's like complaining that the Travel board is all about Travel. You go there when you want to talk about a specific topic- you don't have to hang out there all day.
I judge people who don't have their dogs on a leash (outside of dog parks or their own yard of course). I think it's dangerous for the dog and can be dangerous for others around. Not everyone likes little fluffy running up to them without a leash.
Here's my piece about MMM -- great for pregnancy/parenting-related discussion, but it makes me sad that there are also randoms and confessions threads over there, as well as other discussions that really have nothing to do with child-having. I wish those discussions could happen over here instead. I wish MMM was a place where people went to ask a kid-related question when they had one, like I go to Travel when I have a Travel-related question. It isn't, and that makes me sad because I miss people (and I miss this board being really active)
Unrelated, but a confession I thought of while on my way to work: my husband and I share tissues

I agree with this. My DDs are 3 and 8 and I feel that most often what is being talked about isn't relevant to me.

That's not remotely flame worthy. People who let their dogs run around off leash in places other than their own fenced yard or an off leash dog park are assholes. This is an incontrovertible fact.

I would not call any of these flammable. Try harder.

Posting an unpopular/flame worthy thread every week actually contributes to the boring-ness of the board. Most of us are relatively responsible, nice people, so there are just only so many flame worthy things for us to post with such frequency.

The diarrhea post led to insominac's unassuming poop shoes. Show me a baby-related thread that resulted in that level of awesomeness.
