FOTD: Hourglass Immaculate foundation Burberry Rosewood (lids) and UD Busted (crease) UD Rockstar liner with Marc Jacobs Lunatic layered over it Hourglass Mood Exposure blush Bite Blackcurrant on lips
My military ID expired, so I have to go on base today to get a new one. This time my photo is going to look decent, dammit.
I said fuck it and did a burgundy-ish eye today; with my 5-in-1 as my base and highlight, I kept it summery looking. I think the Cherry Cordial from my Chocolate Bar will be just fine for this look. I'm also pleased because that was one of the colors I didn't know how to use and assumed would go to waste.
I stopped by Target and there was no sale and no Pom Punk. Two Tattoos were on clearance: Audacious Asphault and the blue one. Many of the others were sold out so I have no idea what else is being discontinued. I do find it interesting that Target is regularly out of many of the Tattoo colors. Apparently they are a popular product.
I practiced great restraint today. I don't know if I should be commended or shunned.
All I ordered from the Tarte sale was the popular palette and an eye liner in plum. I swatched another color at Ulta and that shit would not budge. I almost got the gold too but it was pretty brownish and not quite what I was looking for.
At Ulta I used my 20% off for Nyx setting spray, RT stippling brush, Revlon foundation and some Batiste dry shampoo that I think pixy0stix recommended.
I also picked up 2 melted lipsticks for a friend which helped bump my point balance. I had the girl check and I just need to spend $70 more for platinum. Add that to the $140 I need for VIB and I think I can hit both by the end of the year.

Can you post a pic of this look when you add the cherry cordial (or you are wearing it now? I can't tell)? Anyway I'm curious!!

I like to use Cherry Cordial as an outer v/crease color with the strawberry bon-bon or one of the lighter brown colors on the lid. But I really love the light pink/burgundy look. And the liner I bought from tarte yesterday is the burgundy one so I'm excited to get it too.

I'm actually at the pool now. I've tried to take a couple but I'm either squinting too much in the sun, or the color is too difficult to see in the shade. If my makeup hasn't melted off by the time I get home, I will try again. However, what I did is very simple and not at all an elaborate burgundy eye like you see in tutorials. I used a shimmery neutral base all over my lid, up to my brow. I then used a Sigma E35 brush and applied Cherry Cordial to my outer V and part way into my crease. I get the depth and burgundy color without making a dark eye, if that makes sense. It's definitely a bit more dramatic but it's not dark overall because I left enough neutral shimmer untouched.
Sephora just sent me $10 in the mail. I've never seen anyone talk about this yet.
Remember way back in Feb when I said that when you elect not to choose whatever magazine they are giving away you get $10 instaed? Well I just got my $10. It's basically $10 off your order. I have never heard anyone talk about this though!
Not sure if I will be able to do this again. I think you can't pick any other free gift.
You look great! This look is my favorite of your FOTDs. What's on your eyes?
It's actually "just" a Nyx palette! I'm doing the opposite of heyjude, using a different palette each day of the week so I actually use them all!
It's Love in Paris - Let Them Eat Cake. I got it free from Ulta a little while ago. The consistency is chalkier than the higher end shadows but it goes on nicely and, with primer, still looks good now. I used the center left, center, and top center shades. I used the center right as a liner.
The bottom center color looks like strawberry bon bon in the pan but I haven't swatched them against each other yet.
I also used the freebie Nyx fly with me mascara. It's not a favorite but I figured I should be consistent.

Just FYI!
I was wondering why I'd been receiving People magazine all of a sudden! LOL
Awww, thanks! I think it is the good morning light that helps! Taking a picture now would not be so lovely I am sure!
I am terrible with color names. I basically layered a bunch of the lighter N3 colors on the lid and layered darker ones on the outer corner and V. mascara: Dior It Addict (?) some sample I got that I love eyeliner: pixy deep plum. When I first got the pixy liners I wasn't sure about them but now I love them, especially in the plum color. brow: Anastasia pomade (love it) face: It Cosmetics CC cream, It bye bye undereye, It pressed foundation blush: Stila peony with hourglass diffused heat over it hourglass ambient lighting palette - color on the left all over and the middle powder as a highlight lips: nothing because I had just gotten an accidental but painful head butt to the mouth from the toddler and they hurt!

Ooo, I love this idea!
Because I have no life, I've been thinking about this a bit today and I think I may find more uses for the darker and/or more dramatic colors in my collection as the weather turns. I think part of my confusion about how to handle some of those colors has been related to the fact that I started in with all of this makeup nonsense after a long, horrid, depressing winter, and was very much interested in light, bright, happy looks. Now that I actually know how to work with color, I'm hopeful I can make some of the darker colors happen without looking like I've gone back to my goth days.

I'm all about the dark color used with a light hand in the outer v. I've realized almost all my favorite pinned looks utilize this. It just looks good.

I PPH my new Tarte blush in Natural Beauty... It's about as close to my natural "blushing" shade as you can get. Add just a touch of Mary Loumanizer on top of it and <3 <3 <3. I can't wait to get the ones I just ordered from Tarte's sale.

Mope, mope, mope.
The only thing I want from Tarte is the Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. But when you add 5$ shipping, it ends up being full price. I'm better off waiting for the Sephora November sale where it will be (likely) a 15% discount plus points instead of the 30% discount now.
I have more blush and eyeshadow than I can wear in a lifetime-- I have so many that I can barely decide what to wear. Same with lipsticks. The eyeliners seem like a risk- mixed reviews. I don't wear their foundation or powder, and I have maracuja oil skin treatment already. So Tarte has nothing to offer me to make another 26-27$.

Natural Beauty is my all-time favorite Tarte blush. It's such a fantastically pretty color even though it looks kind of terrifying in the pan.
I am incredibly impressed at my own restraint. While I was on base today to get my new ID (the picture looks good! I win!) I dropped by the Exchange (big mall-like place) to check out their revamped makeup counters. They had the new Smashbox cherry eye palette in stock, and I almost broke my no-buy, but decided against it at the last minute. It's really pretty, though.

Sadz.
Come on, you know you want that snake palette. (devil) (angel) (devil)
I found the first one randomly and am wondering if I can use it as blush, as well as eye shadow. I also hope it will also be good for blending with my beloved coral. The second is Soft Brown and gets raves from vloggers for being a good stand-alone color and for blending other colors. I've seen it IRL and actually think it's much prettier than this photo. The third is Cranberry because no reason needed.
ETA: also, at the end of my purchase I was asked to complete a survey. I said in my responses that I found the very dark MAC website annoying for purposes of seeing the actual eye shadow colors and brush heads and that I go to the Nordstrom site to see them (amirite, eclaires??). I already got an email from MAC. The answer wasn't entirely satisfactory but I was impressed with the quick turnaround. Plus, MAC has live chat on its site to answer questions. Given that we've discussed some poor customer service here, I thought I'd share a positive experience.
