Still love it, don't use it as much as I'd like, 12 place settings, 8 of which we received as gifts (my mom spread the word it was important to me)

I moved it out of the boxes after 5 years this past year. Last time we used it was for my daughter's birthday party.

Noritake Silver Palace - We have 8 complete set plus some of the serving dishes and salt and pepper shaker.

I like it, but we've only used it once in the last 6 years.

Our everyday dishes are Picnic by Oneida. We have 8 place settings.

Our china is Lenox Pearl Platinum and we registered for 12, but now have 16. We also have Waterford glassware. Our flatware is Pearl Platinum as well.

We entertain quite a bit and our immediate family is 13 people, thus the 16 settings.

However, between MIL and my mom I will inherit 5 more sets of china - Lenox Christmas china (with holly leaves, don't know the pattern), Spode Christmas china, a gold & blue rimmed Japanese set that my uncle bought my dad when my uncle was in the Navy, the white on white with silver band set my parents registered for when they got married, and MIL's china which has a teal paisley rim and gold band, plus 4 sets of flatware between them, 2 silver, 2 gold (plated?).

Every day was WS Asolo - I have 15-16 plates/bowls (it went on super duper clearance a year or so after our wedding and I stocked up for ~$2/plate)- I love the pattern, but it's a bit fragile and can't go in the microwave.

I also have some Wedgewood Nantucket Basket, that my parents gave me when they got new dishes, I kept it since it is microwave safe.

My good set is Bernardaud Louvre - I have 10 settings of that - it's porcelain, not china and I LOVE it as much as I did when I first saw it in a magazine. Its used a few times a year when we have dinner parties/host holidays.

We registered for a nice set of non-china dishes from Pottery Barn. It was an all white set, but I think it has been discontinued. I use those for guests. When it is just DH and I, we use a set I have from Pier One. We did not register for china. My mom has two sets. If I ever feel I need a set, I will borrow one of hers.

shopgirl07- yes that's my grandmother's. We've been using 4 settings from it for our everyday dishes, so that's part of the reason I was considering registering for china still. It just doesn't seem as "fancy" since we use it everday. We'll probably need to get a few more plates from replacements but otherwise it's complete.

None. My grandma had already given me hers, and my MIL and GMIL gave me theirs after we married. Yes, I have 3 sets of good china. And we will eventually get the other GMIL's set of Lenox.

Waterford Carina (Crystal & China). I only want/have 8 place settings. The Carina crystal got discontinued though now they have Carina Essence.

I have a sets of Frank Llyod Wright China by Tiffany that is IMPOSSIBLE to find/buy now. I got as random wedding gift:heirloom that an old Bachelor friend of my Moms gave us.

I also have my grandma's China.

We got a really nice set of everyday china. Denby Jet Dots and Jet Stripes - I also mixed and matched. We can fill w/ other Denby coordinating sets if we need to. We got 6 sets. I hate wedidng registries in general. Mine most of all. It was like an emotional rollercoaster.

We didn't register for china. I don't know anyone whom ever uses it on a regular basis, seemed like a huge waste. Get a nice set you are willing to use all the time, on a day to day basis not just holidays or big events at the house. Such a huge expense and most people don't use it..just sits there in the cabinet. We went with 2 different patterns of corelle, much more functional for everyday use. Register for items YOU know you will use, just because its a thing most people do.

We registered for 12 settings of Noritake Platinum Wave, received ONE. We've been married <3mo, so we aren't sick of it yet.


ETA: I bought 3 more settings so we can at least entertain 2 people. My mom used her china a lot, so it was something that I found important to have & know I will use also.

Noritake white palace. I think we have 8 settings. We use it a few times a year - holidays, birthdays, anniversary. We also have 10 place settings of a Royal Doulton pattern that my grandmother got in London in the 60s. I love both sets of our china and am so glad we registered for the white palace.

Wedgwood Signet Gold - discontinued and from my 1st marriage. I wanted something simple and plain. Then gold went out of style and i didn't care for it anymore. Now I like it again.

Lenox Solitaire. We have 12 settings, and all the gravy boats and salt and pepper shakers and serving bowls and all that. I don't recall that we've ever used it. It's dishwasher safe if we ever decide to! It's on display in a huge china cabinet in my dining room. It was a bitch to fit it all in there to make it look good, so I might just never take it out!

We have Mikasa's Parchment set. I can't remember if we have enough for 8 or 10 settings?

We also have Crate & Barrel pieces in solid white. Enough to seat probably 12-14.

I find that we rotate pretty consistently. Both sets are kept up in our cabinets.

I also own an ivory colored bone China set that's Wedgewood, passed down from my mom. That hasn't been used to date.

I have china. It's stored at my parent's house. I keep telling them I'll get it whenever I have a bigger house, but I don't plan on getting a bigger house.

I prefer using my Target plates while my ass is planted on the couch in pajamas. No fine dining here.

Didn't register for wedding china because we lived in a tiny house and I didn't see the point. We weren't fancy dinner party people.

3 years later I found myself hosting Christmas dinner and had a major freak out over fancy dishes. I found mostly full set at goodwill for $35. It's your standard silver banded white china. I love it. We break it out a few time of year. Pretty much any meal we eat at the table instead of the couch.

Some people definitely use it, and most people I know registered for it. My mom and MIL both have multiple sets (my mom has at least 6 patterns that I can think of) and use it regularly. I use mine less regularly than they do, but I do use it for holidays or when hosting showers or fancier parties. I think sometimes people make the mistake of "saving" their china for some ridiculously important occassion that never arises. There is no reason not to use and enjoy it if you like it.

A lot of people I know registered for china also. And unless you inherit an antique fragile china set, damage from moving isn't really an issue. Today's china is actually really durable and strong. Ours is dishwasher safe (not microwave safe due to the metal banding) and really strong. To prove it to me, the consultant at BBB banged a cup against a metal stand to show how it didn't even crack.

I already had two sets of china before getting married - one is Crown Ming Celeste. Purchased 8 place settings plus serving pieces at a garage sale for $15.

My other china was passed down from my great-grandma. I don't remember the pattern name at the moment. I don't think it's particularly rare china, I see matching pieces at antique stores now and then and purchase additional pieces when I see them. I have dinner & salad plates for 14 but only have bowls for 8 and cups/saucers for 7.

I don't use china everyday, but it does get used at least once a month for a dinner party or special occasion. I'm glad I have it. My grandma is the one who gave me my great-grandma's china, and she's always happy to see that I use the dishes at holidays and family gatherings. She says that's why I got them instead of any of the other great-grandchildren, she knew I would appreciate and use them.

For everyday dining, we have Fiesta in cobalt, we registered for those and got 12 place settings.

My mother, aunt and MIL all told me, they used it for a few years, then go sick of cleaning it for special parties. Most people we know get the nicer quality paper/plastic plates so they don't have to spend a day cleaning them.

I have moved my china 7 times (including 4 out-of-state or cross country moves), and none of it has ever been damaged. I can't say the same for my every day stuff. You can't get much more durable than bone china.
