For real though-I think it was Princess Diana and Charles' wedding. I remember watching it with my mom and being amazed at how long her train was!
That was...1981? I was 4/5
Yep. This. I was 6. I remember loving her dress - wrinkles and all. Thought she was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. And then I outfitted all my dolls in dresses with ridiculous trains made out of scarves. I luuuvvved the royal wedding.

I kind of remember the San Francisco earthquake in 1989 when part of a bridge collapsed? I only have vague memories, but I know my mom was really upset and scared because we had family living there that she couldn't get in touch with. That's the first thing that springs to mind anyways.
One of my strongest memories happened when I was 11 - Pennsylvania Attorney General Bud Dwyer killed himself on live TV during a press conference. He was going to be charged with corruption/bribery. The news showed it live one time, which I did not see

I was 5 during the 1984 Olympics. The torch run went by school and I remember lining up on the street to watch.
I went to a private school through 8th grade and we would watch significant events on tv as they happened. I remember watching Baby Jessica, the Challenger, Berlin Wall falling, Northridge earthquake and the Gulf War. There were probably more, but the ones I listed made an impression. Oh, there was probably at least one Ca wildfire in there as well.

I was 9, and my mom and I got up in the middle of the night to watch it. I had no idea how much of an impression that all made on me....when DH and I went to London in 2010 and visited St. Paul's, I got super choked up standing by the door and remembering it.

I remember that VIVIDLY. (I was 17). It was a double decker highway that collapsed - the upper deck on the lower deck, crushing all the cars on it. :-(

That was the Bay Bridge. The span that fell and was repaired was replaced with a new bridge last year.
Old, double-decker on the left. New one on the right.

When Kate and William got married, DD (who was 5-ish?) and I watched the wedding together in my bed while drinking tea. I thought there was no way she'd actually wake up to watch it, but she practically leaped out of bed! Great memory for me, hopefully she remembers it too
DH and I went to London the week after the wedding and I got a bit verklempt at Westminster.
I remember hearing about the War in the early 90's and maybe seeing it on tv. The first actual memory of seeing something live was the OJ bronco chase.
ETA: We were watching it go down before our weekly dinner at Ponderosa. Lol I was 9
Damn, I really need @cse1960 or flex to come in here.
Here I am.
I remember the John Kennedy assassination even though I didn't understand it. I was not quite 4.
ETA: I was 8 when MLK Jr. and Robert Kennedy were shot, and during the Democratic Convention craziness. In 1968 it seemed to me that all the adults were losing their minds and the world was in absolute chaos.

To all those asking ... I am 25. I am a child, I know.
You're doing better than I am... I remember Princess Diana dying, but if I'm really honest 9/11 was the first major event I connected with in terms of news coverage. I am also 25. Now I feel like a baby.
These were the two that popped in my mind too. I'm 23.
I remember this as well - I was 6. I thunk it's part of the reason being stopped under any overpass in traffic gives me anxiety. In true Californian form I don't really think about earthquakes much, but that scenario still gets me.
Mt. St. Helens eruption in May of 1980. I VIVIDLY remember the Challenger explosion because Christa McAuliffe was my neighbor and her kids were classmates of my family. My brother is buried at the same cemetery she is and we have a brick at the Christa McAuliffe school in Concord.
Wow. That must have been such a sad thing to see it that up close and personal.

Challenger explosion. I was in first grade (7) and we watched it in school. For some reason I don't remember seeing the explosion in school. But I remember being on the school bus and thinking about telling my mom and I remember telling my mom once I got home. I remember the explosion, but I think it was from news reports or something.
I don't know if this counts, but I think I was 4 or 5 and my mom and I witnessed a plane exploding in mid-air. We were walking out of a Zany Brainy in the Philadelphia region when it happened. I think some Congressman or Senator was on it. Maybe someone else remembers this?
this was the Heinz plane crash. He was a politician and a ketchup heir. Early 90s.
