This is gross. I wash my hands even if I just go in the bathroom to brush my teeth! This is exactly why I use a paper towel to open the bathroom door when I leave AND use hand sanitizer after I get back to my desk.
Ok, I'll bite. I voted no. My hands are dry and bleeding in the winter. I ALWAYS wash my hands in public bathrooms. I ALWAYS wash my hands when I poo. However, when I am home, if I pee and and don't get any pee on my hands (which isn't that hard), I wash my hands every other time or so. The soap just kills them, so I reduce as much as I can.
I don't wash my hands in the middle of the night when I pee. I mean my eyes aren't even open. But 100% of the time in a public restroom because everything I have touched (handles etc) is fucking nasty.

I wash when I'm in public and at work. But if I'm home and I've somehow managed not to pee all over my hands, sometimes I skip it. I do wash my hands before cooking though. Still, its rare that I don't.
That said I'm not all grossed out by people who don't. Most people manage to wipe with paper and not their index fingers, yes? Germs are everywhere and I've never understood the weird paranoia about zomgerms.

I'm here, too.
ETA: This has nothing to do with dry hands for me, just not a big deal IMO at home. My hands are washed the minute I walk into the kitchen, so nothing in there is "contaminated." (shrug) And add me to the list of people who think we over-sanitize.

Two things: Pee is sterile but it washes out through parts of your body that are not sterile.
Not getting pee (your perception of not having gotten pee) on your hands does not mean you didn't get bacteria on them. Toilet paper is not exactly an effective barrier.
Even my 5 y/o washes his hands after peeing in the middle of the night. I heard him last night.

My neurosis about using hand sanitizer immediately upon getting in my car, and pretty much any time I leave my house, is now seeming...not so neurotic.

To the non-hand washers due to dry skin, can't you start using hand cream? I live in the NE, and in the wintertime my hands are dry, cracked, and bleeding from the dry air + constant hand washing. I keep bottles of this gentle hand cream in my purse, desk drawer, and around my house so I can use after every hand washing. I don't think dry hands are an excuse to not wash.
Yes, especially now because I am borderline crazy about DD and germs (which is hilarious since she spends 9+ hours per day in the germ factory that is daycare). Prior to having her, I was team I did not always wash at home after peeing in the middle of the night.
