Sorta H&F - I lost my dog today

We had to put my old man to sleep today.  He was 13 years and 2 weeks old.  He's been with me before my husband and both of my girls and it is breaking my heart he won't be here to welcome this baby into our family.



He was never too big on running but he loved weekend long hiking trips.



I was with him the whole way and he left knowing he was loved and he was brave.  I have a Nanuq shaped hole in my heart and I suspect it will be there for a while.

 I'm so sorry. It is absolutely gut wrenching. My heart breaks for you, and that second picture kills me. Oh I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog! It made me tear up reading this, too, since my dogs are also very much our babies. I'm glad you were with him the whole time too, so he knew he was loved to the very end. That's a sign you were a great human to him!
