Because I just did my first legitimately good training run in forever. I covered my Garmin and just ran by feel, and I even tacked on an extra mile at the end.
I had a breakthrough over the weekend that I have been running too fast for what should be longer training runs. I scaled back about 30 seconds in mileage pace and it's made a huge difference-I've been able to complete the first wk of Bridge to 10K with (relative!) ease.
It's funny, I've read the "don't start out too fast" mantra since day 1 of my running journey several months ago, but didn't pay much heed since I already run pretty slowly. Apparently I can go slower, though, LOL.
My whole house is now recovered from the stomach bug, and with a little (okay, a lot of) luck in timing and help from DH, I didn't miss a single workout. Take that, stupid virus.
Tomorrow ends my annual 3-month "busy season" at work, and for the first time in my career I put myself/my health first and made my workouts a priority through the whole time and, although there were several late nights, managed to eat well and continue my weight loss. In the past I was either not working out, or used "being busy" as an excuse to do nothing for exercise and/or stuff my face with fast food and candy, figuring I'd deal with it later.

I think I deserve major props for my restraint on my lunchtime run. I absolutely love pandas, and I happened to be running right next to a Smithsonian truck full of bamboo. And I never even attempted to stow away and hide in the pile.
I'm not sure if this is an AW or more of and OMG, but I am going to try out the masters program at my old swim club tomorrow- I am prepared to feel REALLY old, and praying that the schedules are still the same so none of the age groupers are there.

Awesome! I'm going to want an update on how it went! After my workout group ends in a month, I'm probably going to join my local masters.
Oh, I actually have one! I run bridges every Tuesday. Multiple loops that include two decent size bridges per loop. One is a beast. This past Tuesday I ran my fastest bridges ever. 2 loops, 5 1/2 miles, 4 bridges, head cold, crazy winds (30 mph gusts), 7:45 pace. BOOM! lol
My runs have been crap lately, so to run strong, despite bad weather and feeling crummy, had me quite pleased. The bad news is that the rest of this week is shot with long work hours. I have to work a 15 hour day today, and I still feel like crap.

I know I am late to this post. I posted briefly last year. But than I felt like a fraud because I stopped eating well and working out. I restarted in January with over a hundred lbs to lose. We'll as of Thursday I have lost 10% of my weight and have been walking regular again. Feeling so much better. You all are an inspiration. I hope to start running soon.

I survived a very hilly four mile run through Pittsburgh yesterday. Hot damn this city is hilly! Much different than flat running I'm used to and was pretty sure I was going to die, had a cab passed me I would have taken it
I ran my "long" run for half training today sub 9:00 min miles - which is huge for me.
And my other mini-AW, I've updated my home blog with some updated photos. it's helping me keep my sanity because I am going nuts wanting this project to be completed! If you love the 1970s and home renovations, you'll love it onelastproject.blogspot.com/2014/03/before-during-photos.html

Omg your house looks awesome! I wish I had the patience for renovation- 90% of houses in our area need major renovation from the 1970s!
tuggyruns - thanks I have run out of patience at this point. And am ready to move back in. My H is on nights at work for a busy season in his industry and we're just OVER IT. The bad thing is, we still have so.much.to.do once we move back in. Oh well, the structural stuff is completed.

OK, after our conversation earlier about us spending all of our money, I totally blog stalked, and I am obsessed with your renovation. Holy transformation. I'm so excited for you, and as overwhelming as it might be, it will be so worth in for those views! Summer H&F GTG in the Denver of the east!
Wow; things did go beautifully with your renovation, lb2006 !! Happy for you guys, and hope everything goes smooth as you finish up. It is so much work, but you've done well.
I remember hearing about it when you started because we'd just bought a very 70's house too. Only difference is ours is still rather 70's.

Your house is awesome! We've almost completely renovated the interior our 1970s house over the past 5 years, and I am SO excited to be done. We need to do the outside, but that's going to have to wait a while. I have lost all patience with renovating.

I feel ya! I'm not in the same situation but we are in temporary housing b/c we sold our house so fast and it took longer to find something we wanted. So I can totallly understand wanting to be back in your house! I actually had a total FWP moment on the way to church this morning complaining about all the stuff I am still toting around in the back on my car.

That's why I kept hounding y'all about the Denver, CO GTG - wouldn't you ALSO want to come to the Denver of the east? Once we're finished, I'll host!
