s/o Easter Baskets - I think I'm doing them wrong

I literally threw DS1's together in about 3 minutes. 

It includes two books (Knuffle Bunny Too and a Skippy Jon Jones one - the space one), Disney-themed eggs (that already had the candy inside, so no stuffing for me), a box of marshmallow peeps, a bag of Jelly Bellies, and Cadbury Creme a Eggs. And the last three things are really for H and me.

i thought about doing an egg hunt but my ILs are doing one at their house and we did one through a local church last weekend, so I decided to skip it. 

I guess I don't understand why everyone is worried about getting theirs together, haha.

Oh, and we included absolutely nothing for the baby.

Yup. Mine only took about 5 minutes. Most of that was spent putting jelly beans in the eggs. She is three. She doesn't care how it looks. I tried to make it look cute to post on here and IG. The kid could care less.

Mine didn't take long to put together and I just got the basket itself at target tonight. We colored eggs today and filled plastic ones after Rocco went to bed.

IDK. Me and H got into a (minor) argument last week because his Easter basket growing up consisted of hard boiled eggs. I actually down played it a lot this year but I do tend to go overboard. It's just fun FOR ME to do it. I honestly don't spoil my kid, though. I swear. He gets gifts on his birthday, Christmas and Easter. It's a rare treat to get stuff in between.

We put DS's together quickly. Coloring book, crayons, chocolate bunny, some eggs filled with mini chocolate eggs or jelly beans and a box of chalk next to the basket.

DD isn't getting a basket. She's 6 months and I'd eat everything anyway.

I think mine took 45 seconds. Add fake grass. Put in superman bank, $1 target flower wand, and Reese egg.

Walla. We don't make Easter baskets a huge thing. We're having an egg hunt with friends in our yard, and there's stickers, jellybeans and chocolate in there too.

I put lobster swim trunks and a matching visor in the baby's.

I'm done. DH put candy in the plastic eggs while I filled the baskets. It took about 15 minutes to do four (yes, I do baskets for DH and I, too), mostly because I had to get some stuff out of packaging.

No joke, the bunny has given my girls the same box of Easter stickers for three straight years. They see them, promptly forget about them, and I put them away for the next year. lol.

Everything came together quickly; I had picked up the goodies weeks ago, but threw it in the basket in less than 10 minutes – and it could have been quicker, but I like to arrange everything just so.

We do an egg hunt at the house (as well as one or two public hunts leading up to Easter), but it's not a surprise and not from the bunny.

No joke it takes me that long for one. I fix the basket week or two ahead. Then I change it 5 moe times. It had to look perfect. Then I look at the picture a year later and think it looks like shit.

They've received four sets of gifts from other people this week. Four. Including my crazy aunt sending my daughter a giant box with a basket of candy inside. Which my kid opened because she can read her name. I know for certain if anyone had tried to steal my aunt's thunder like that when my cousin was a kid they'd have woken up with a bunny's head in their bed.

I am polite and friendly about all of the gifts, I promise, but I just want to take a trash bag to my house and throw away handfuls of bullshit and nonsense indiscriminately.

growing up I had a friend who didn't eat much candy.  Her dad bought her a huge simpsons hollow chocolate easter thing.  They just brought it out every year and put it with her basket.  I know it made an appearance at least four years running.

I keep the same basket year after year. This year I have him a few chocolate eggs a few filled with m&ms and a few with change to practice his money skills. And the addition was a storm trooper mask DH bought him and has been waiting for an excuse to give him.

5 minutes just because I taped the change to out inside the eggs.

I think they took thirty seconds each. Maybe someday I'll put more thought into the arrangement, but they are little boys; they won't care what it looks like.

And there's no candy, so no eggs to stuff.

(I used to do plastic eggs with stickers and small animals, bouncy balls, etc., but ds2 still outs everything in his mouth and I don't want small toys around the house right now.)

Putting the candy in the plastic eggs? About 10 minutes.
Hiding the eggs? Maybe 15 minutes.
Shopping for this shit? Several stores over a few days time.

We didn't do anything fancy either. I bought a cheapy straw basket at Target and put a stuffed bunny doll, bunny ears, and a small dump truck in it. No candy since he's only 10 months. We didn't take him to any egg hunts either...he can't walk on his own yet, and I didn't wNt to deal with trying to help him walk thru hordes of kids when he wouldn't get it anyway. I anticipate next year's celebration to be pretty similar.

I am feeling slight guilty that we're not going to church tomorrow though. But I haven't been to church in years.

I didn't do baskets at all. I'm being a Scrooge about Easter. But I did buy them kinder eggs. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse because they will choke on them.

Yep. My mom got him Frozen and a book and some candy. My ILs bought $50 worth of candy for their grand kids (3 whom are 2 and under, and the other 2 are 15 and 16), and I'm sure they'll have other goodies for them as well.

Last year DS1 got a lot of things in his Easter basket and he promptly played with . . . None of it. The only thing we use regularly is his Skip Hop backpack and that's because I pack it with things to do forum before we go somewhere. He rest of his Easter presents last year are just cluttering up the toy areas. 

H and I decided that the Easter bunny was going to bring books and candy only from here on out.

If it makes anyone feel any better, my Easter "basket" growing up was a paper plate with the fake grass on top with whatever Easter candy mom picked up at the grocery store on top of that. I am sure it took her 20 seconds to put together.

Looking back on it, it cracks me up because I know we had baskets in the basement she could have used. I guess this was easier clean up.

I feel like this at every holiday. It's all so overblown! Everyone loses their damn minds at Christmas and then repeats it at Easter. My kids do not each need a basket from both set of grandparents and all 3 aunts. The older 2 got a bag full of junk at school already. The Bunny just brings a bit because we are drowning in candy and cheap toys already.

That sounds normal for my family. Basket items are bought as they are found. Then thrown together the night before. Empty basket is used for random hunts before. Most schools ask for no grass.
