Started a new training cycle yesterday after spending the weekend at regionals. I feel so excited and hopeful for this training cycle. I feel "back" after surgery, healthy, fueled properly, ready to take on anything. This is going to be a good 12 weeks!
Your turn. What are you feeling good and hopeful about? AW yourself.
NH&F related, but I'm at our new house yesterday and today assembling furniture and just doing general getting-ready for the movers to come next week. I've gotten heavy shit upstairs by myself and am using tools without supervision and (mostly) without mishap. Yay me!
I went back to my original diet and have stuck to it 100% for 6 days. 8 to go before I start allowing a few more things back in. I'm over the day 3/4 hump!
On Sunday I ran double digits for the first time since getting back into running last fall. 10 miles on a beautiful route near the lake and through a park with some trails thrown in. Most importantly I felt great!
I made apricot preserves for the first timeover the weekend (and canned 19 jars!!!!). I had some today over Greek yogurt with some granola--it was so so good. I am so proud of myself.
I AWed this in the Training Tuesday thread. I ran 22 miles over the course of the weekend, and I'm feeling good(knock on wood) about my base leading up to training for Chicago.
My running has been going pretty well, and so far, the heat hasn't knocked me too far off of my game. If training goes well, I think I actually have a decent chance at my sub 3:30 goal for the fall...although that sounds crazy to me. 4 years ago I never would have guessed that I could have a marathon time that is 3:2X.
After my bad race in the Himalayas (otherwise known as Galena, IL) on Saturday I realized I'm completely under-prepared when it comes to Hills. I got up this morning and did a great hill workout on the treadmill and feel like it's one step closer to redemption. I have a long way to go to understand form and pacing, but I felt good that I already added this into my training.
I feel like I'm in the best shape of my adult life. I'm so happy with where my marathon training is right now. <4 weeks til race day and if everything goes well, I could definitely PR. The question is by how much!
I ran 1.5 miles this morning with no stabbing pain in my groin! It felt pretty tight still (even after a deep tissue + ART session on Monday) so I didn't push it too hard and just walked and focused on stretching and rehabbing for a solid hour after my little jog this morning. Feeling on the up and up for sure.
Also I'm down a total of 27lbs since last March - which doesn't sound like a lot for > 1 year, but that's a big drop for me and I'm really not wanting to lose any more weight. 116lbs means I need to build some more muscle mass...
Finally, I am one week dairy free! One step closer to going completely vegan, though I'm not entirely sure I want to drop eggs from my diet. I've been eating super clean for about 5 months and I feel great - almost no processed food is left to cut out (fucking jelly beans!) and I figure I'll drop dairy for a while and then evaluate whether I want to continue to trend vegan or go back to run-of-the-mill vegetarian. We'll see!

Just as I had hoped to do by participating in my training group, I now have running friends. I hated the feeling of finishing a race and then standing around alone at the end with no one to talk to. I am looking forward to Monday's race where I will see some friends!
And I just received a super motivational email from one of my coaches about this past week's training log. I have had 5 fantastic weeks and it feels great to get noticed.
I ran my nearly 5-year olds to preschool per their request. It's only 2 miles, so it's not a huge deal but it only took 5 minutes longer than we drive because I didn't have to wait for all the lights, or spend time putting them in and out of carseats.

I took a very long and unplanned break from running after my half (which left me more discouraged than proud) but I've picked back up (very slowly) and I'm running pretty well. I don't think I'll take another break for a long while.

I ran a 5k in 31:49 this weekend. My final mile was at a 9:49 pace. Coming from 13-14 min/miles, this was huge for me. I feel like I don't have to preface any talk about running with "but I'm really slow". I'm average!!

Can I be an AW again? I need to share my run tonight. Bridges, although brutal, are my favorite run of the week. We're flatter than flat here, so downtown bridges are our hills. It's been so hot the last few weeks, and everyone has been so grumpy. Today, we got a break with a high of 82, and it was so nice down on the river. We had so much fun. 3 loops is right at 7.3 miles, and it includes 6 bridges. Tonight was my fastest bridge run yet @ 7:47 pace. This FL girl tackled these "hills" pretty well!
