I was completely convinced you were right, rootbeerfloat ! Clearly I'm not paying attention.
I love American Gods. It totally sucked me in right away. There's a lot to it, but never in a bad way, IMO. I love all the mythology twined into the storyline.

I was trying to help and may have been a little drunk
Anyway, I read it (and think there may have been a discussion or two a long time ago). I didn't like it at first, but I did appreciate it by the ending. But Gaiman is not really my cup of tea.

It was ok. I just felt like it was way over my had. I just don't have enough background foundation in mythology to really understand all of what was going on.
American Gods is the best book I've read this year! I was trying to finish it on a Friday night, but I was getting a headache so I decided to go to bed and finish in the morning. I had the weirdest dreams/nightmares about the book all night long. It really got into my head.
I liked it, but not as much as some of his other books. I liked the Ocean at the End of the Lane, I LOVED Neverwhere. I most recently read his short story "The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains" (you can read it here at www.fiftytwostories.com/?p=1338 and loved that.
Neverwhere, Stardust, the Cave story, and his graphic novels rock. I just liked American Gods and Anansi Boys.
BUT, I am super excited to be able to report, I got a book (probably that one) signed by him about 15 years ago and my friend and I brought a couple beers to the signing because it was packed and we felt bad for how long he had to be there. LOL, what brown nosers we were!
