I cringe every month when I open our satellite bill, but sports are too damned important in our house for us to get rid of satellite. Oh well, it's our form of entertainment.
Yes we have a medium package for two TVs. But we justify it because we very rarely (basically never) go out to movies, bars, fancy restaurants, etc. Grilling some food and watching Travel Channel is a common evening in our house.

We do have cable. Right now we have the package that includes all channels except the specialty ones (so we have hundreds of channels), but normally we only have the most basic package. We switched for 6 months because to go from the most basic package to one of the biggest packages cost only a couple of dollars more per month. When this promo runs out, we'll go back to basic cable.
We just cancelled last week. Finances have been a little tight lately, and I realized that most of what I watched was on hulu+ and netflix. So far so good.
ETA: I'm posting from my nook and just realized that I am able to post with javascript enabled! That makes me very happy.
Ooohhh, I'm so glad to hear this! I hadn't tried to post yet from my Nook but I spend a ridiculous amount of time on that thing and was always frustrated that it wouldn't allow me to post on TN.

We gave up cable about 3 years ago. Best decision we ever made. We have a digital receiver and get all the network stations, plus quite a few random stations - I'd say we probably get 20 channels.
Most of them are crap, but we can usually find something to watch during the week on networks and on PBS (we get 4 different PBS stations) on weekends.

we have cable and I think DH would leave me if I suggested cutting cable. (okay not really - but....). we have cable, HD package, DVR, and a few other things I think.... it's expensive.
Honestly, if there was some way we could watch college football on the TV without having cable or satellite, I would do it in a heartbeat. I can live without Toddlers & Tiaras.

We have basic cable, but that's it. We've had it at that level for probably a year now and while I'd love to have Food Network and HGTV, that's about all I really miss. Even though I just started a new job, I don't see us getting it again any time soon.
We suspend our DirectTV each year the day after the super bowl until the first college football game of the season. So we have cable 6 monts of the year and are without 6 months of the year. My husband would die without the BTN during college football season.
I've never had cable my whole life. My parents didn't believe in the extra cost (though they could afford it I'm sure if they wanted). So I grew up with 5 channels on TV. And a small TV at that too. I didn't think much of it, except I would watch TV or movies at friends' houses.
And now, living in the Chicago area there's a bunch of local free channels, and H and I don't watch a lot of TV, or we watch network TV shows mostly. So we never added cable. We now watch a lot of stuff online, and we have both Hulu and Netflix for stuff that isn't free. We've never had a problem getting the shows we want so we're happy doing without.
No cable here. We do have Boxee though (connects to the internet and pulls down shows from their websites or hulu or wherever they are hosted). The only thing I miss is HGTV and it isn't worth the money for me to watch that.

If we didn't love GoT on HBO so much I'd happily cut it. I rarely watch television and usually if the tv is on I'm streaming something on Netflix for the kid.

Yes, plus we pay for HD, DVR, premium channels, and Spanish channels. Our bill is huge. But we tend to stay in on the weekends on watch movies. I figure it is cheaper than the 2 of us going to the theater more frequently.
