I seem to have lost my foundation. I have no idea how this is possible but I haven't used it since I moved. I'm going to look again tonight but if it is really gone I am going to be SO ANNNOYED that I discovered this the day after the sale ends. Especially since I almost bought another foundation but talked myself down since what I have worked well enough.
wawa - pretty lip color! Your lips are killin it this week. lol.
Today was a smokey cranberry and gold eye.
Shadows are Lid - MAC Cranberry, LORAC Pro Garnet and Gold, Transition - MAC Soft Brown. Crease - MAC Sketch. Lips are NARS Anna with a touch of nude gloss.
wawa really is! You look great, as always! This photo is making me excited that I ordered Anna during the sale! It is still in pending status though. Grumble grumble
forreals - Anna is such an inbetweenie color. It's not dark or light. It's middle ground. I don't own anything like it really.
It looks gorgeous on you! It will be my boldest of the audacious lipsticks. I wear bold lips so infrequently I just couldn't bring myself to pony up the cash for some of the gorgeous, bolder colors.
FOTD with some new stuff:Â Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer, UD ladyflower lipstick from the stash set, Besame violet powder
Also have on the usual Tarte BB primer and In the Light
Pretty! What do you think of the violet powder? I've only used it once so far. What color is your blush? It looks like a great color for you and unless the photo is washing out the color I think building it up a bit next time would look even prettier.

Ahhhhhh!!!! The bombshell HD powder I got in my ipsy bag, look what happened! Ahhhhh! I've been jolenied.
In other news, I officially have a problem. Apricot is a very orange red, a perfect fall color and I didn't even remember I had it. Obviously I have too much make up now. I guess I need to turn in my MUT card.
ETA: I was so traumatized by my first pic I didn't get a close up of my eye shadow. I did a mix of reign and defy on the lid with lucky on the "dome," undone on the crease and last sin above. All of which are from Vice 3. I thought it came out well.

Anyway - powder foundation users. What is your plan of attack in the winter? A primer and foundation in the summer is easy and I don't like too much on my face.
Is the key to use an extra product in the winter? Then add powder foundation on top?
I'll take recommendations for primers, bb creams, etc, all for oily skin.
What I do know is many liquid products make me break out. I currently have Clinique BB cream that I'll try layering. And I also ordered some of the Perfekt gel during the sephora sale to see if I liked it. The Tarte liquids are interesting to me, but I'm too chicken shit to try it in fear of bad skin.
If I could get away with hourglass immaculate I would, but it's break out central sadly.
Maybe my issue is that I need a slightly more heavy look in the winter? To not be washed out? But how do you achieve that with powder?
As far as the winter question goes, I don't know, I'm still navigating that too, since I really didn't do the whole makeup thing until MT 1.0 was well underway. I have been making sure I put my Boots Expert oil controlling lotion moisturizer and Yes to Blueberries eye cream on in the morning and letting it set before doing my makeup which is helping my skin out immensely. Oh, I also started using Loreal's Hydrafresh toner in the morning too.
As far as primers go, I really like Dr Brandt's Pores No More and the Becca Mattifying primer. When I first joined MT1.0 I used a Korean BB cream that you can buy on amazon called Skin79. It was really good except for it tended to melt off my oily face before the end of the day. That's the only BB I have tried.
Today I was running behind and just used my Too Faced Cocoa Powder foundation and I almost feel too powdery compared to wearing it during hotter weather, so it may end up being more of a finishing powder during the winter months.

carrotsmakemefat I am new to winter makeup too so I don't have answers:) I just wanted to second dr Brandt pores no more. I really like it. I got it as a 100 pt sample. I will try to see if it still available.
I didn't know I was supposed to have a plan of attack for powder foundations in the winter? I wear bare minerals. Can someone enlighten me on the issue?

I chose that as one of my samples this order. Now I'm excited.
New hair cut and color and some green eyeshadow from Vice 3 with Tarte Jungle Green eyeliner. Blush is MAC fever (Still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this color. Everyone needs to own this color). Lips are BeneBalm, which I also really love. Super hydrating with beautiful sheer color.

I like the powder so far, more than most actually. We'll see how I feel about it after a few days.
My blush is Tarte Embraced from the Pin Up Girl set. I probably use that one the most. I basically put my makeup on in the dark this morning so I tried to go easy on everything. I do think it shows more in person though.

I think it's just that a lot of people get pretty dry in the winter so their regular spring /summer foundation and powder can be too drying or powdery looking. At my age (41) , that becomes an issue of making me look older and overly made up. Others may have different reasons for changing it up.
I tend to use a lighter hand when powdering in drier weather.
I used this tutorial on pinterest for my smokey eye:
Except I found that I don't have a smudge eyeliner, I shouldn't have used primer or a base eyeshadow because it wouldn't blend very well. Otherwise this is a super simple way to do a subtle smokey eye.
Cheeks are BeneTint and Lips are Tarte Lipsurgence LipTint in Swank. Eyes are Too Faced Matte Linen all over, Mally Gun Metal Eyeliner for the darker color, Too Faced Matte Tufted Suede in crease above Gun Metal eyeliner, UD Shadow Box Baked Cowboy for gold on 'dome' of lid.

@smorriso -- I love that Nars lipstick! And since I have a daughter named Anna, I think I might just have to buy it :-) Hopefully it'll be back in stock by Christmas!

I wore powder foundation (MAC Studio Fix) for years and years, and I always felt like it did much better in the winter than the summer because it didn't melt off of my face. I was younger and had oily skin, not dry, though, so if dryness is your issue, powder may not work in the winter.
As far as getting a heavier look, what powder foundation are you using? I don't know about other ones, but the MAC Studio Fix is very buildable. I used to apply it with a brush (sort of like a kabuki brush, but thicker) instead of the sponge it came with and I could get either light coverage or medium coverage depending on how much I layered on.
I have been using the Tarte BB cream for about 6 months now, and I really like it. I don't generally have issues with breakouts, but my skin can be oily and I think it holds up really well.
This is the Tarte BB cream I use (and I know a lot of other people on here do too). A couple of the colors are available in a "travel size" that is much cheaper per ounce.

That's how I was introduced to it too! I've been working on that sample for about a month or so now. I wish it would have been still available when I made my order yesterday! There wasn't any really great 100 pt samples by the time I checked out.
DarcyLongfellow I use the UD foundation and I really like it.
That said, I'm thinking of maybe switching to a BB cream. Maybe I'll try that Tarte one you linked since you said a lot of people here use it.
Awesome, glad to hear another rec!
The Tarte BB cream isn't a true bb cream, despite the name. It is a really lovely light foundation, though. It makes my skin look flawless, and it feels very light on my skin.
All the true bb creams I've tried just don't have enough coverage for me. My skin is pretty decent, but I feel like if I'm going to go to the trouble of smearing something on my face, I'd like it to look like I did something :-)

Do you find it's moisturizing at all? That's mostly what I'm after. And coverage, of course.

I find it to be moisturizing. Until recently I actually wasn't using a separate daytime moisturizer since it's got decent SPF. (I used a SPF moisturizer and that's it BMT)

I haven't really noticed it to be particularly moisturizing I haven't yet used it in the winter, so I'll have a better idea in a couple of months.
I don't find it drying, but I think someone (SallyJ maybe?) finds it too drying to use around her eyes. I feel like some others on here use it without moisturizer, though.

It's very drying. I have to use a moisturizer under it and then I have no issues.
They call it a BB cream and a primer. It's neither. It's straight up foundation.
