Another question. All I've ever really worn for eye makeup is a quick smudge of eyeliner and some mascara. I am attempting to learn to do real eye makeup with eyeshadow, and I need some supplies. So if you were going to invest in one high-end eyeshadow palette, what would it be?
You'll need to go test them out.
Chocolate Bar is one of the most popular but it looked like shit with my coloring/eye shape. My favorite palette is "Shades of Fame" from Smashbox which isn't sold anymore (though I have seen them at The Cosmetics Company outlet).
You can make an appointment for a makeover at MAC or Sephora which is free with a $50 purchase and have them focus on helping you find a multi-purpose palette or selection of colors.
I actually look best in super shimmery colors which look crazy on a lot of people for every day.
I went to the MAC counter last night for something a little more fallish.
I got blush in Blushbaby. The MUA suggested wearing it further back on my cheekbones in the winter which was helpful. It's pretty neutral but different than what I have.
And lipstick in Chili which is a nice rust color, but I realized when I got home that it doesn't really match my winter clothes. I am undeterred. I will just wear it with what little black and beige/tan I have. Boo mayernity clothes. The good colors are always sold out in my size on Old Navy which is one of literally 4 stores that sells maternity clothes my size. Only a few more month until I can wear black all winter again;)
In the end I actually ended up going with the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette. It was next to Chocolate Bar and caught my eye when I was looking at that one. I liked the way Honey Pot swatched on me better than the gold shade in the Chocolate Bar palette, and I wasn't sure that I would use all of the colors in Chocolate Bar... I'm definitely a neutrals person.
Today I'm wearing Silk Teddy on my lids, Push-Up in the crease/outer V, and Sexpresso on my lash line. And I am a total convert to high-end shadows!

This is a very nice palette. I had my eye on it one time but then I realized I probably have all those colors x 2. But it is a good choice!

very pretty! ETA: Silk teddy reminds me of one of my fav colors in chocolate bar, creme brulee.
Browns/bronze smokey eye with N2 (Foxy all over, Busted in crease and outer V, Suspect on dome, Snakebite to blend from Suspect to Busted). Mally Gun Metal eyeliner. UD Perversion mascara today instead of my normal Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. BeneTint on cheeks, and Nyx red crayon (forgot name) with YSL sheer pink lip gloss over it. I don't like my lips at all with my red sweater, but didn't have time to change it.
Okay, I'm in love with my hourglass blush palette. It's the first thing I've bought from the brand and it's wonderful. So, talk to me about the ambient lighting powder. Would it be good for all over, over tinted moisturizer? Or if not, do they have another product that might be?
Today I'm at home sorting through baby stuff so I just have concealer on. I'm trying out the amazing concealer and I can't say I love it. I'll give it a few more wears and if it doesn't wow me, it's going back.
I need to return the smashbox 24hr eye primer to Ulta (I didn't realize it wasn't pigmented like their other primer) so I might see if I can test out the IT cosmetics concealer.

Yes, it would be good for all over! At least that is how I use the one on the left (dim light?) from the lighting palette.
Does anyone still have pending Sephora orders from Monday?
I have one from November 8th even, though one placed on November 9th shipped already.
Yeah I placed two orders on Monday, the first was two bite mini duo's to get my sample bag then another order of foundation and an eyeshadow to get the discount.. The foundation order is on the truck for delivery today. The other one is still sitting there. When I checked my order status about ten minutes after placing the first one, both Bite duo's were listed as permanently out of stock (where the reorder button sits on the status page). Now the poppy one is still listed as OOS but the nude one has a reorder button by it, so I'm guessing it's held up due to a stocking issue. I, too, got the "orders delayed up to 3 days" notice for both orders.

I know I'm a day behind, but I'm new to eye makeup, too. I dove off the deep end and bought naked basics, lorac pro 1, chocoloate bar, IT naturally pretty vol 1. They are all great, but I use naked basics and lorac pro 1 constantly for easy, basic looks. You can do that with any of these palettes, but I think those 2 have been the most user friendly for me.

racegrrl714 I just got an email from Sephora that due to a large volume of orders, there are shipping delays. The email stated that the order would be delivered by 11/19, and they gave me 250 extra bonus points because of the delay.

I got an email from Sephora apologizing for the shipping delay and giving me points. Except, I also have a tracking number and my order is out for delivery, so.... lol.

I just got the same email only my promised delivery date is the 20th, and I only get an extra 100 points. LOL
Anyone just get the email with the sample bag promotion? I was excited until I saw the samples. More primer? Yawn. Yu-be cream? Yuck.
Yes. I am surprised I got it though because I didn't get any snail mail about the 20% off sale and didn't get an email about it until the event was almost over. Thank goodness for the makeup thread keeping me in the loop I'm not holding out much hope for the $20 off coupon...
