I think the husband was the boyfriend of the dead girl but didn't kill her. I think she's trying to keep Wes (who is definitely a goober lol) in her pocket. Do you think the cop is still her "boyfriend"??
The depictions of law school are so unrealistic (and derivative of legally blonde) that I found it hard to stay in the moment.
Also, Wes is the definition of goober and that doesn't work for me.
I was surprised the husband was killed. But I do think he was the boyfriend of the dead chick, especially after that kiss with the associate (very happy to see Paris, btw).
Definitely. On the other hand, calling on random students from the seating chart was too realistic for my own comfort. I hated that part. "Ms. Scout, what did you think about . . . ". It gives me panic attacks just thinking about it.

Okay, I just finished watching it again. I like it.
She means business. I can't believe she called her boyfriend to the stand, brought up his wife's cancer and the fact that he wasn't at his post When he should have been.
I was not expecting the husband to die. It definitely seemed like she knew that the professor and the girl had some type of relationship.

Also - I think I've watched too many episodes of Criminal Minds. When the sorority girl let the plumber in I thought "HE'S GOING TO KILL THEM ALL!!". I can't believe he was actually a plumber!

Lol me too. The way she touched Wes seriously creeped me the f out. It was supposed to be seductive or no? I mean she is an attractive woman and I will give her hottie cop but cute law student....nope.

Also the thing about her snd her husband trying to get pregnant...I mean really? Or did they just say trying to have a baby? No idea on character's age but viola davis is close to 50. I am totally down with older moms but I am thinking most people that age are probably trying to adopt to have a baby not get pregnant
My whacked out prediction is that dead girl was pregnant and her murder was related. I think professor is the dad but boyfriend killed her. But then I can't reason why professor ended up dead.

I was 40 when I had my son and even I was like "huh?". Same with the way they keep following Jennifer Aniston around and photographing her midsection. I just picture ships...sailing. lol It was also just an odd scene. I was kind of hoping she'd immediately switch and we'd know they were fake tears and she was full of crap just jerking him around. When that girl said she wants to be her I thought - why, she's a sociopath!
And I definitely want to see the first season of Damages again. I really think this is going to be a juicy tv/soap version of that show.
Ok, let's simmer down now on the older mom thing, kay?
Also, I don't know how I feel about this show yet. I don't disagree with anything @soudesafinado said. I just don't think this is Shonda's best work. Time will tell.
....and all of you sweating the Socratic method? It's honestly my favorite part of my law classes, lol. I'm probably just weird, though. I will say that my Accounting professor is using it and I am....not amused.

In another situation I wouldn't have been considering her age but combined with other things it made it more unbelievable. It would be hard enough to imagine her weeping on a law student's shoulder about her troubles in any area, particularly this one. For me it seemed like that was just something someone young would believe. That marriage doesn't seem like one that's pining for a baby. I thought it was pure manipulation but was confused when the tears didn't stop as soon as he walked out the door.
She's badass and maybe more than a touch crazy. Her character can carry this show for quite a while for me!

I hear ya. I thought old, too, but then said, maybe they are disagreeing about whether to adopt or use donor eggs or something like that.
That look she was giving him at the end made me think of a big game of chicken. Like she's taking BC or he's been crushing them up in her coffee while they're both pretending they're dying for a baby. lol. It's just a great picture though of how if you're a big liar, how could you ever believe someone else, or feel like you know them?
I think the tears with Wes was manipulation but she then got upset because it truly was something she was struggling with in her marriage. I felt like it hit her that what she just said wasn't bullshit this time.
DH and I went through a million situations on how/why her husband was killed. I think she's too smart I leave a murder she committed in the hands of her clumsy students. Plus they were doing things on the fly making me think the actual murder wasn't planned. It was all too messy for her to be the mastermind. I
I liked the show a lot so I'll be watching every week. I lovesd the crazy.

I don't think she is going to be the murderer unless there is a drastic situation where he was like abusive or a closet rapist or something like that which is of course possible. I don't think Shonda would have a main character that would kill someone just because he was a philanderer, but who knows!

She wouldn't muddy her hands, but she could make any of her minions do it.
The Orange is the New Black guy was absent from the murder storyline. Trying to figure out why that's significant.
THAT is who he is!! I was trying like hell to place him and I couldn't do it and no one in the house could, either. That's because I'm the only on who watches OITNB.

I had to look it up because it was driving me CRAZY. It's weird to see him out of context of a prison uniform, and confident.
I love it so far. It's totally camp. What's with the bite marks on Wes' bed?!
I assume related to the scratch marks on the wall. The "crazy bunny sex" the neighbor referred to which I'm thinking is something far more sinister in reality.

I found it entertaining. There are very few similarities to real law school but I did appreciate the male associate pointing out the hypocrisy of those who go to law school to make a difference and then sell out. He lost me with the baby stuff, though.
I'm not sure why they keep trying to paint private criminal defense attorneys as the most noble members of the profession, though. Yeah, corporate transactional work isn't as sexy, but helping businesses buy and sell other businesses is often less shady than using "creative" methods to keep guilty people out of prison in exchange for large sums of cash. There's nobility to be found in every type of law, but private criminal defense doesn't get to claim superiority, imo.
