I'm 90% of the way through The Invention of Wings. Love it. Before that I read The Witness Wore Red and her sister's book as well...about FLDS. Interesting.
After that I don't know..I dowloaded a bunch of $2.99 or less stuff...we'll see how good it is.
I just discovered Sarah Waters so I'm reading all of her stuff. Currently on The Little Stranger which is a creepy psychological thriller/haunted house story set in post WWII England. Very good! Next up is The Night Watch.
I recently read The Girls from Corona del Mar which was FABULOUS. I strongly recommend it. I also recently read White Oleander by Janet Fitch, which is great (fifteen years late in that one, lol).
I just read The Secret History, at least 20 years later so I feel you haha.

Last night I finally finished The Goldfinch. I kind of have mixed feelings about it. I loved parts of it, but some parts made me feel like it was never going to end.

I felt like this too. The Vegas section especially needed to be pared down a bit. Don't get me wrong, I loved it (and I think I read it some ridiculous amount of time like three days because it was so good, lol) but I don't really see it as being Pulitzer Prize worthy, do you? I actually thought The Secret History was a much better book overall. I guess people don't typically win big prizes for their first novel though. I have The Little Friend too but it's so slow going that I've never gotten past the first couple chapters. Maybe I should give it another try.
I haven't read the other ones you've mentioned, but I definitely felt like there were parts of The Goldfinch where I was skimming even though I felt bad about skimming, if that makes sense. Like, I was SO into it and the writing was so beautiful in a lot of places that I wanted to slow down and take it all in, but if I slowed down, I was NEVER GOING TO FINISH. I liked it a lot on the days where I could devote hours to reading it, but on days where I could only read in 15-30 minute spurts, I felt like I was just treading water. I think it's a book that I would appreciate more on the second reading.
I was on a YA romance reading kick this month. Don't judge
If anyone's looking for fast reads I recommend Amy and Roger' s Epic Detour, Second Chance Summer, and Since You've been gone (all by Morgan Matson) or My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. I enjoyed them all
Me Before You. Very well written and overall a light read for a sensitive topic.
I loved this book. It made me cry in parts but I thought the topic was really interesting and thought provoking. It's one of those ones that stay with you and you find yourself thinking about it in odd moments.
I read this book last month. I'm still mot sure if I liked it or not. Did you see that they're making it into a movie?
For some reason I can't c&p the link on my kindle right now.
I'm reading How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. It's... different.
This hasn't been the best year for me. I've only rated two books 5 stars on GoodReads. And both were by the same author, Rainbow Rowell. I recommend anything she writes.
This Is Where I Leave You is really good and I am looking forward to seeing the movie.

I have read these all and enjoyed them. YA romance is my go to when I need a mental break.

I'm halfway through the Outlander series. They are long, and I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to book 5 yet. So I'm going to start The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty.
I saw The Maze Runner last night, and now I want to read that series.
Other recommendations: Americanah, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy, Laini Taylor; The Golem and the Jinni, Helene Wecker.

Yes and oddly enough, we had just moved to the UK the year before the real life case took place and I remember the issues and media surrounding it. I thought it was written extremely well trying to highlight all dudes and angles,

ladygrey I loved A Light Between Oceans. Talk about a tear jerker.
I recently finished Wool by Hugh Howey and thought it was pretty darn good. Starts out slowly, but I really liked it overall. I definitly reccomend. I've just started the sequel Shift.

I really liked The Goldfinch, but I thought it was sort of uneven too. The longer I am away from it, the more I like it though...I feel like the characters stayed with me.
