I don't know why that pissed me off so much. I'm looking for a fight today, I think.
There is a girl on my bmb posting in "bragplaints" calling her 8 yr old dd a bitch. But its okay because 1. wasn't to her face and 2. she was being one!!!!111!
1. Not taken it knowing you weren't going to use it.
2. Donated it to someone who really needed it
3. Saved it to use for your next kid but let me guess you would rather screw the big insurance company and make $40 again.
My hospital offered me like 10 cans of formula I totes should have taken it and sold it even though I knew I would never use it.
I mean, you "totes" could have done whatever you wanted. I didn't know I wasn't going to use it, hence me saying "I didn't know if I would need it". My doctor said I should take it and came in my room and handed me a pump. Not sure how that was screwing the big insurance company as the pump was already in my possession whether I donated it or sold it, but you just keep on keeping on thinking you know everything about everything.

The diapers thing is stealing.
The pump thing? Eh, probably not so much for me provided you are GIVING it to someone who needs it, not selling it. Some insurances don't cover double electrics and they are crucial for working moms. I'm paying for that pump through my insurance anyway. Just cover double electrics for eveyone and don't make me have to cross the line, world. It's a total Robin Hood scenario for me, and I'm comfortable with it but wouldn't blame anyone for not being comfortable.
I totally signed up for formula samples for a friend with twins. I send her the samples and checks and DGAF. Payback for all the years I brestfed, and was bombarded with samples and shirty targeted marketing.
I would have donated the pump runningfish. That sucks, sorry.
Also, the ACA is still in its beginning stages so gasp not everyone has insurance or adequate coverage or access to pumps. If I had an extra my insurance paid for damn straight I would donate it or get it to someone who needed it.

Edit: selling the pump makes you a dick
I have no problem with taking free formula samples and donating them. That's marketing for the formula manufacturer. You're not hurting the company. If anything you're helping them build brand loyalty. You corporate shill! Jk
I don't know, I just don't agree. Yeah, I can track down a family that doesn't own a pair of shoes and give them all of mine, or I can sell them at a yard sale. Because they're mine...
Like I said before, the doctor told me it was included in my hospital bill so I should take it. So I did. It's not like I filed a claim and tried to sell it at retail value. I sold a $200+ pump for forty bucks. I just don't feel bad about that, but I guess i can see how a better person than me would think differently.
I think everyone should keep all their money and never donate a dime because it's theirs. Screw people they should just gets jobs and shit.

Well, way to take it completely high and to the right. Once again I don't know wtf you're talking about. So people should never take vacations and volunteer all of their time instead? Reel it in...
You are the one who went way off base with the shoe thing remember?

That was way off base?
You are so strange. You can go off to Lala land but then when I basically call you on it you turn the tables. Look many people in this thread said it was a dick thing to do NOT just me. Defend it all you want doesn't make it right.

But how is it "basically already paid for" just with your hospital stay? I've spent a lot of time in hospitals and they charge you for every little thing. I have been told if things were opened it was already paid for and they have to toss them so I could take them.
There was a family across from us in PICU last week that was sent up from the ER. The parents had left to eat and the nurse went to check on the kid. She found 2 of the clear patient belonging bags full of medical supplies, including a stethoscope. Apparently, they had cleaned out the ER. The police came and they were arrested for stealing because it's illegal, even if they were paying for a hospital stay.
Open things like diapers, yes. Linens get washed if you leave them. My guess is if the pump was still sealed they would have been able to use it again. I would think it gets itemized but who knows.

See the nurses told me to take everything, swaddle blankets, diapers, pads, everything because I was being charged for it whether I took it or not. I'm not sure how or why it's different.
How is a STETHOSCOPE different from a DIAPER? Really??

I have had nurses give us unopened packs of diapers but and hand sanitizer but we used it all and it probably only equaled $25. The respiratory therapist snuck me a bag of oxygen cannulas, masks and saline after we were talking and I told him how much trouble I was having with insurance. It's all things I will use and I'm sure it will be paid for. There is a huge difference in a $10 pack of diapers I will use and a $200 pump I know I won't.
I'm confused with the stethoscope medical supply analogy. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong or explaining it wrong, but the pump wasn't just chilling in a drawer in my room. The transaction literally went like this.
"Do you need a pump?" "No I bought a single" "This is a double and you're probably going to want one. It's part of your hospital bill so you should take it" "Oh ok."
She left the room and came back with a pump.
But it shouldn't have been part of the bill if you didn't accept. And if it's part of your bill your insurance was charged.

Hospitals don't give out free pumps. They do maybe deliver to you a pump paid for by your insurance.
I guess where I am at is there is no way I would ever do that for $40. It's not $4000. Give it away and be a decent person if it's NBD. Presumably the person buying it can't get a free one from insurance, so why be a dick and charge them?

If I was seeking these pumps out for the purpose of selling them for a profit I could see how that's a dick move. I don't think selling my belongings in a yard sale is a dick move. That opinion isn't going to change. So I guess I agree to disagree.
It's insurance fraud to sell something that insurance covered. I belong to Medical Supply BST groups for special needs and you can ask for shipping if something was covered by insurance. It is considered a donation. You can sell it for whatever you like if it you paid OOP.

-_- there go my plans to sell pumps on the black market.
It doesn't surprise me but the fact that you still don't think what you did was the least bit wrong says a ton about your character. Like I said I am not surprised at all.

Would I do it knowing it was fraud? No. Doing it with the information I had at the time, absolutely don't feel bad.
I can tell a lot about your character from your post history as well. So for what it's worth, you're opinion about my character means dick to me.
You specifically said with the information you have now you still would do the same thing. Yes that makes you a dick. And funny you only chose to comment to me when many posters said the same thing. In fact I wasn't the first to call you a dick. #nopumpsforpoorpeople #wontdonatemyshitipaidfor #dick
