Just had our 2nd ultrasound and unfortunately, baby has not grown and there was no heart beat. In fact, it didn't look like there was much of a baby at all, which makes me feel a little better anyway.
So, for those of you that have gone through miscarriage, did you let it come naturally or have the d&c? I'm leaning toward natural. How long could this take?
I am really sorry you are going through this. My first pregnancy was a blighted ovum - so no baby, just a sac. I gave it a few days to see if I would miscarry naturally, and I didn't so I had the D&C.
My third pregnancy, I started to m/c naturally on my way to get the D&C.
I would not recommend waiting. It really just screws with you emotionally.
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Hugs. Take care of yourself.
TMI ahead: My first m/c was a blighted ovum (which sounds like it may be what you are having). I was told that because it was a BO, it would pass on it's own fairly easily, so I opted to wait. It took maybe 3-4 days for the m/c to begin naturally, and once it did it did not go well and I wound up admitted to the hospital and had a D&C because I was bleeding extremely heavily for close to 48 hours but my body would not pass the sac. Having the D&C was such a relief--it was really hard, emotionally and physically, to draw the whole m/c process out for close to a week.
Did they offer misoprostol or some other drug? If, God forbid, this happens to me again, I think that's what I'd opt for first. Recovery from a D&C was harder than I expected (the anesthesia did a number on my throat and neck), but waiting was really no picnic, either.

No, they didn't offer any medications. They said to think it over through the weekend and let them know what we want to do. Also I didn't see my normal doc because she is on vacation this week, so the doc I saw said to follow up with her next week.
