How often do you get new dishes?

Yes, definitely.  They're still in good shape, and I would probably feel less wasteful.

I want new dishes too. Mine are heavy and just blah but in perfectly fine shape. My MIL kept accidentally breaking them and I was hopeful she would break enough that it would warrant buying new ones but we ended up finding a new box in our basement.

They are 9 years old. I do plan on getting new dishes either for my birthday or Christmas and I will donate the current ones. I also want new silverware.

Mine are Corelle. This means I will likely be stuck with them forever (I get the guilt too). I have a few Fiestaware pieces but they don't fit in our cabinets.

Of course Corelle shatters into a million tiny little shards when it does break, maybe next time I can use their danger as an excuse to donate them somewhere.

Donating them to a women's shelter is a great idea.

H and I still have our original dishes from when we met. They're all miss-matched and they were hand-me downs then.

We are due for a new set but I haven't seen anything I really like.

Mine are 7 years old as of this weekend (wedding present, which is the only reason I know the date, lol). We got 2 boxes of 8 and are down to exactly 6 plates now. I want to get something new and lighter before we move.

We still have the same set I bought when we moved into our first house 6 years ago. I dislike them. They were like $16 for a 4 person set and while they've held up well I want something a bit more.. grown up. I'm trying to hold off till we do our kitchen remodel though.

We are using the Fiestaware set Hs mother bought for him over 20 years ago. Aside from a few chips, and some wear marks, they are in good shape.

However, they are this weird dull salmon color and I would like to sell them and get brighter colors.

We've had ours for 10 years, and just replaced them about 2 weeks ago.

I posted them for free to my friends on FB, and several people jumped. They were out of my house within 24 hrs of the new set arriving.

Still going strong with them 6 years later. MIL has dishes for every holiday. Probably multiple sets per holiday. We ate off porcelain Peter Rabbit plates yesterday for an early Easter meal. My parents have had the same basic dishes my entire life.

I had my last set for, I think, 8 years. I got bored with them and they were chipping a lot so when we moved I just put them in the donation bin and bought new plain white ones for the new house. I LOVE my plain white ones

Our first set didn't last long, it was Noritake. Constant chipping. I bought Corelle after that and I have no idea if I will ever need new dishes again because they last forever.

I get the guilt, I'd donate them and get ones you like.

I replaced mine after 5 years or so. It was just a cheap set I bought for my first apartment. I needed more place settings, but the pattern was discontinued. I didn't love them either. I went with plain, white Corelle, so I don't plan on replacing them for a long time. I like to buy other fun serving pieces, mugs, bowls, etc. to go with it.

I donated my old set to a family homeless shelter. They are almost always in need of housewares. They help the families transition into permanent housing and the families usually don't have things like dishes.

We got Target stoneware when we got married and they chipped a ton. So then my parents gave us their old Corelle which never breaks. Got tired of using that after 8 years so just bought Fiestaware in the last few months.

We got dishes for our wedding and used them for 6 years. They were all white and I got super bored with them. I sold them on Craigslist and bought Fiestaware. I love the colors and they are strong. My youngest has been using them since she started solids and they've survived many crashes to the floor. They also have an awesome warranty. I had a pizza tray crack in the oven and they sent a new one no questions asked.

Yes, they chip terribly . We have a set from PB and need a new set. They did not wear well at all

Same issue. We got plain white bone china dishes for our wedding. They're now over 10 years old. Booooooring. The whole reason we did the plain white is because I figured I could put smaller, cheap decorative plates in the middle when I set the table and change up the look.

I don't think I have ever set my table.

Mine are Villeroy and Boch, and seem to be nearly indestructible. I think in 10 years I've only broken one plate and one bowl. They're white, with a ring of different colored squares around the edge, and I still love them.  I use cloth napkins, and while I change out my napkin colors all the time, they still match the dishes for every season.  For me, it's just the right amount of color without being too committed. 





I don't love the serving pieces as much, with the yellow sides, and may replace them with all white at some point, but I'm in no rush.

We've had our set for almost 9 years. They are still going strong and I have only broken one coffee mug, so so far so good. Although the pattern is retired, so if I break them, I will have to shell out a fortune to get a replacement or I will probably just get a whole new set. But I still like them, so it will probably be a while.

replacements dot com!  I've bought wine glasses from them before.  They have TONS of stuff, and I'd bet real GBCN dollars that they have your pattern.

We have had two sets of dishes since we have been together.

H brought dishes with deer on them to the relationship....

Much to his chagrin, I replaced those as fast as I could with white fiestaware. They have terrible scratches in them and look downright awful. I want knew ones, but it's going to bring on a rash of shit from H and a whole "i told you we should have kept the deer plates." No. No we should not have.

Ours are Correll, so we will probably have them forever. Well over 40 years old, my grandmothers set is going strong lol

I may eventually get some fun dishes as an additional set, but I like our winter white correll. Fits the dishwasher and cabinets well even though they are kind of boring.

I got new dishes last year for that exact reason - they were in fine shape, but after 10 (actually 11) years I was tired of them. I should donate the old ones, since they're just taking up space in the basement, but my mom bought them for us and she loves them, so I feel bad getting rid of them.

they do!  nice!  some of them are very reasonable, but some are crazy expensive.  one of the serving bowls for one bowl is $110.    and the gravy boat I want is $34.

That Kmart line was great quality! I bought a bunch of stuff from it and I still have almost all of it, and it's in great shape. Her Macy's line doesn't seem like it's of the same quality.
