I was told "well-over 9lbs." She was 8lbs 5oz. She was 6 days early though (by their count. I know her actual due date was 5 days later so 11 days early).
They estimated 4lb 12oz at 32.5 weeks and 7lb 6oz I think at 36.5 weeks. He was born at 38w, 2d at 8lb 3oz, so they seemed to be pretty accurate assume a baby gains half a pound a week at the end.
I had around 8 growth ultrasounds and baby was always measuring >97th percentile. Specifically, they guessed 7lb 7 oz and 2.5w later @ 38w1d he was born 7lb 1oz (and they are supposed to gain ~0.5lb/wk so I answered that they guessed over a pound heavier than he actually was).
I had an ultrasound a few days before Lena was born where they estimated her to be 8 lbs. She was only 5 lbs, 6 oz due to an undiagnosed condition. I put no stock in their guesses.
They never estimated with Elijah or this pregnancy.
i had a biophysical profile done 36 hours before i gave birth and they were right within 3 oz. guessed him at 8.5lbs and he was 8 lb 5oz. they were dead right on his length too at 22-23 inches. he was 22.75.
my last ultrasound was at 32 weeks and they have a guess then although i don't remember what it was. i remember just dismissing it because it was too early to be accurate for his birth.
Squeaky was within half a pound. Squishy was about a pound less. The margin of error gets bigger as the babies get bigger, but Squish was tiny so that's irrelevant in her case. But I guess twins probably makes the error higher too.
They were pretty spot on for me, but I had multiple growth scans.
They told me she was 5lbs 14oz two weeks before she was born and she was 6 lbs 13oz at birth, so assuming she gained the average 0.5 lbs/week, they were exactly right.
This is exactly what happened to my friend. Except I think her son was like 11 lbs. 3 oz., so you still win .
She wound up with an emergency c-section and had to have her cervix surgically repaired.
How awful! I had a placental abruption, so luckily I had an emergency c-section early on. He actually got stuck during the c-section and they had to use the vacuum to get him out.
Mine predicted a smallish baby around 6.5 lbs based on my measurements and weight gain. It was more of an off the cuff guess and she was clear there was no way of really knowing. When he came out she said " woah he's big!" At 7 lbs 7 oz lol. Meaning he was big for me I guess.
I had weekly growth ultrasounds for IUGR. The final u/s they measured her at 5lb 4 oz. I was induced that night and had her the next evening and she measured 5lb 14oz.
When they did mine they said, plus or minus a pound. The problem was the guesstimate was 8lb12oz. The US tech was all, "It's probably nothing to worry about, these can be off by +/- a pound." And I was like, "You don't understand statistics, do you, because that does not make me feel better!"
They didn't give me a 40 week estimate, but at a growth scan at 33 weeks he was estimated at about 6 pounds. I had the scan because I was consistently measuring 5 weeks ahead. My OB said he would be "big but not huge". He was born 4 weeks later at 8 lbs, 2 oz, although probably inflated a bit due to fluids I got for the epi. Probably would have been about 9.5 if I had gone to 40 weeks.
I had a growth U/S because they were worried he was measuring way behind. At 38 weeks they thought he was about 4 pounds. He was born an ounce shy of 8 lbs. He was born at 42 weeks, by even with gaining a half pound a week they were still off by two pounds.
