The nausea started today. He threw up this morning, once at the hospital, and twice since we got home. He gets an IV of anti-nausea before they gave him the chemo and he's on Compazine.
Yesterday he ate 4 ritz style crackers & 1 can of ginger ale at the hospital. For dinner he ate 1 helping of chicken pot pie. The amount of the chicken pot pie was smaller than my fist and he mostly pushed it around his plate.
Today at the hospital he had 1/2 can of ginger ale and had 1/2 of a plain bagel which he didn't finish.
I packed a lunch for him but he didn't eat a bite of it.
He wanted something bland so for dinner I made him a baked potato, plain, and a bowl of chicken soup with the noodles taken out (he didn't want them).
He drank 1/2 of the broth, didn't eat any of the veggies or meat and took one bite of his baked potato.
He then asked me to make him a smoothie, he took two drinks and puked.
I'm sorry His. Can they give him calories via liquids/IV? I know it's not the same, but it's something.
I never thought of that! Thank you! I'll call the doc tomorrow and ask. Do you know - would this be something we could do at home? DH has a chest port.

I don't, I'm sorry. I know it's how they kept me fed and nourished while I was in the hospital and couldn't eat, but it was via IV inserted into my hand/arm.
We spoon-fed my dad when he wasn't doing well. Sometimes it could take a couple hours to feed him but it worked. He would drink his juices through a straw so he didn't gulp and choke; the straw seemed to help it go down, too, and his foods were cut into bite-sized pieces so he could chew but wouldn't require pureed foods.
I am so sorry, his. My FIL had CLL and it sucks so bad.
I would try to get him to drink something like Ensure, if you can. Also, cannabis of the sativa variety is the best for nausea/appetite stimulation, but it should be smoked or vaporized rather than eaten to be gentler on the tummy.
He doesn't have a vaporizer. I assume they sell those at the weed stores? I don't have a medical MJ license, can I buy one?

We crushed all my dad's pills and mixed it with his food. Would that work with your DH to mix it with his food or drink, whatever he's capable of swallowing?

Fortunately, he doesn't have any problems chewing or swallowing, he just can't keep anything down.

I think you can probably go into the hydro places that are opening up everywhere to get one. If they don't sell them they will tell you who will.
Fuck cancer.
I'm so sorry. Is he willing to try protein drinks? If he doesn't like the thick type Syntax Necter is more of a crystal light consistency and has many flavors to choose from.
What are you going to take care of yourself? Don't forget about you. Hugs...

I'm okay Karma, love you for asking.
I just don't like the drastic change in his health. He was perfectly fine Monday night. Yesterday was the 1st day and he was fatigued when we got home, didn't have much of an appetite but wasn't throwing up. Today was his 2nd/last day and everything started going downhill this morning.
I'm sorry His. Did his previous chemo therapies make him sick or is the nausea new this time? Poor guy. Poor you. I'm sorry.
HiC, he's on a new chemo this round. He was on Fludara/Rituxin. Now he's on something called Treanda and the Rituxin.
He had nausea before, but it only made him lose his appetite. He lost so much weight last year. This time it's the loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
