What a shit day. A part of me is really wondering if I failed my baby with 'better safe than sorry.' Ds1 and his whole class has had a mild bug all week with slight fever. So if course my four week old got it. He was 100.4 at home, only 100.2 at the peds office but they wanted him to get monitored despite 100.4 being the cutoff. We get here and he measures 101 (I think just cause he was screaming....fine ever since) so it's a guaranteed two day stay and mother f***ing spinal tap. And the nurse failed three times to get an iv in which broke my heart. Ugh here's a sad pic for listening.
DS had a few ER visits (the pedi called ahead) and an overnight stay when he was just shy of 4 months. He had a positive blood culture for strep pnuemo & wound up with a spinal tap (which was negative). It was incredibly stressful and we had an awful experience when they tried to start an IV. He was back to normal within a couple of days and is sick less than most kids.
I hope he is feeling better soon and that you can get some rest.
