lol no. Massachusetts has a pretty boring state flag. There's Boston pride, and Cape Cod pride, and New England pride, but not so much Massachusetts pride. At least when it comes to tattoos and clothing.
MH has the Maryland flag wrapped around his calf. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. People stop him to comment on it all the time. I think that's made him regret it a bit.
At least one friend has a Baltimore city tattoo with the flag design in a heart. One of the local shops had them on special after the riots. Another has the 410 area code where the 0 is an Orioles logo O.

I see tons of Jersey pride stuff, but it usually involves an outline of the state. I've lived here most of my life and I'm not sure I could pick the flag out of a lineup actually. I've also lived in NY, MA and PA and couldn't identify their flags either.

OH! see, there you go. I was thinking as I was typing that I didn't know anybody with a MD flag that I thought I'd seen one on somebody in a FB photo recently. It was your H. In the picture with your pup. (does she have a new name btw?)
It's also possible that my one friend's fucking dumb shit of a brother has a MD flag tattoo. He has a confederate flag tattoo on his shoulder - it's meant to look like the flag patch on his reenactment costume because he's really into reenacting. (but...uhh...dude, that still just means you have a confederate flag tattooed on your fucking shoulder. His brother told him when he got it that they were never going to the pool together again.) But I think he has another flag on the other shoulder...which might be MD but it might be a US flag. Not sure.

Massachusetts may have a boring flag, but it has got to be the state with the most pro-sports team logo tattoos. Half the damn state has a Red Sox logo on their body. Oh and shamrocks. And maybe if they are really hard core, the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish.

We did finally name the dog this weekend! Her name is Olive but we mostly use Ollie. Shortie is another of her nicknames but it didn't feel right having that be her actual name. It would be too confusing when she and Teddy go on dates.

Omg yes. State flag? Ha right. Sox/Bruins/Pats/Celtics? You're an unpatriotic Massachusettsian (Massachusetts-er?) if you don't have at least one item of swag in your closet or on your body.
On a tangent, I saw a woman with a big Under Armor symbol tattoed on her calf the other day. That seems a bit silly.
I'm glad our flag is nice because we get screwed on the cute things shaped like your state. A rectangle is not fun.
There are bennies! The rectangle shaped states were in great demand when we did state reports in 5th grade. Colorado is sooooo much easier to draw than Hawaii.
Area code tats ESPECIALLY in CA where we change area codes like we change our hair color are just a BAD idea
I once saw a guy with a GIANT 619 on the back of his head and commented to my H, "do you think he's pissed he lives in 858 now?" To which H responded, "you could probably fix the 6 and the 9, but the [tattoo] artist would have trouble getting a 5 there."
The SC flag is everywhere. That's one reason I don't get our fixation with the confederate flag. If you're not a racist a-hole, we have a perfectly nice flag you can fly to represent your southern heritage.
Agreed. The palmetto flag is so simple and pretty, and I see it EVERYWHERE.
The GA flag is boring.
And this thread has made me realize I would totally fail a state flag test.
I'm in RI. The anchor symbol is pretty ubiquitous in general for tattoos and clothing, lol. "Hope" is used here and there and as a RIer I can recognize when it's being used in a way that's referring to the state motto, but otherwise it's not really in your face.
I feel like I see the anchor and motto or the entire flag image on stuff in gift and souvenir shops or in the touristy areas, but it's not really a thing that people around here are wearing in general.
I have seen several hipsters in Providence with the anchor surrounded by stars tattooed on them. Or also with the "hope" motto. or the anchor and the hope but no stars.
i'm actually seriously considering a tattoo of this. I have a flag on my desk that I fly because I love it so much. I try to think of "hope" as my personal motto, too way before obama started using it.

Except for Wisconsin, since they've helpfully labeled it for you.

I will also add that I have seen tattoos for the state area code (all of RI has one area code, it is 401). You can still dial just using 7 digits! It's so quaint.
I see a lot of DC flag tattoos. They seem to be particularly popular as calf tattoos for cyclists.
LOL! My former roomie was a cyclist and got a DC flag tattoo on his calf before he moved out of the city. Such a stereotype!
There's a guy at Eastern Market on the weekends who sells cool DC flag-related art. We almost got one before we left, but we decided against it because it was bound to dominate any room we put it in.
