At least Jam.ie James could get married and take her spouse's last name. Poor Gray.son Gray is stuck for life (unless he decides to be unconventional and take his spouse's name too, which is of course a possibility).
I know at least two women who have done this - their last names (and now their sons' first names) are Parker and Bennett. The sons carry their dads' last names.
I guess it didn't strike me as that unusual.
Yes. My brother's name is my Mom's maiden name. Mom gets divorced, changed it back. I eventually change my last name to my Mom's (b/c I don't speak to my Dad). So now if I mention my brother's name to people who don't know that I used to have a differnet last name, I get a look b/c well, they think his name is something like Smith Smith. LOL.
I know someone who gave her child the same first name as her last name (which is a common first name)…it boggles the mind.
My name is my moms maiden name. And then my last name is from my Dad. It kind of boggles my mind that this boggles your mind lol. This is not an uncommon thing to do.
Okay but her name is like "Michelle Michelle" or "Ashley Ashley." That is what I meant. Sorry that was not clear.

I don't care that there are a zillion Kates or Jennifers, I love both of those names and would use them. People get carried away with needing their kid to be different. They are all unique in their own ways, regardless of names.

Oddly enough, I also knew someone whose first and last names were the same. He goes by his middle name, but his full name is (something similar to) James Michael James.
