I'm really stressed out from everything that's been going on lately w/r/t work/starting a new job/etc. Usually I can pin point something that will make me feel better, but I can't think of anything and I've felt like I was going to have a panic attack all day.
I don't notice it as much on MMM but I hate when people post pictures and draw attention to something they don't like. "Ignore the messy mirror/bed/floor/dog/husband in bed!" Clean that shit up or don't mention it. All you're doing is drawing attention to what whatever it is. The OOTD post on S&B today is a prime example.

Confession: I am a little tan from actually being out in the sunshine last week. I miss being tan and going to tanning beds. I haven't done that since my wedding in 2006. I know it's terrible for you, but I don't care. My arms look super ripped with some color!
Sometimes I find myself at the end of the internet and I read threads that have zero bearing on my life like schools in Philly or Disney dining. But normally I just click by and figure someone gets useful information from them.
The Philly thread is making me feel like kind of a jerk for saying I didn't want to live in the suburbs.
FWIW, you said nothing jerky about the suburbs. If DH and I didn't start out with jobs in the burbs, we probably would have moved into the city. But now that we're here, we love our town. We are about 2 miles from the downtown area and almost bought there for the walkability, but we wanted a yard and parking and got a much bigger house on .5 acre for the same price as a very old twin needing a great deal of work. I feel like we have the best of both worlds. My only wish is that we could get into Philly in less time.
I find name posts sooo boring and never open them. I don't even know the whole Piper joke.
I like the name Lucy.
I keep seeing names like @missy1 and @starry on the new topics feed so I click and get all engrossed in a thread then as I go to write something, I realize it's GP and not here. It looks quite busy there.
On that note, where is natablue? She was one of the mainstays on GP when I was on there.
I was just wondering about her the other day too. She was sweet and had the best hair!
All my posts over there are "Congrats on your boy/girl!" All filler no killer.

Every single baby girls' birthday party I see is pink and gold and all the same-those tassley things, maybe a splash of mint. I don't get why people are still doing it-get a new party idea!

Also, I don't understand why anybody buys waterproof mascara. It is such a bitch to wipe off and my eyelashes are heavy and sticky all the time. I love the non-waterproof stuff!
Today I have been calculating if it would be possible to sell our house in Houston and move to Dallas near our parents (& my sister). If DH is going to be gone from the house at least 12 hours a day then he might as well just be gone Mon-Thurs and I can have help from our parents. A comparable house (we have a much bigger lot) down the street just sold for $55k more than we paid so it's not really a stretch.
But I need to remember this will just be a shitty 6 months at work on top of a shitty 6 months at home and I need to think long term.
My kids want a dog. I'm open to the idea, but GBCN makes dog ownership (like visiting Disney) seem so complicated and hard that I don't want to.
I guess I'm in the minority, but dog ownership has been pretty much a piece of cake for us. And I do not relate at all when people talk about resenting their dog after having kids. I feel the total opposite. My dog is sooooo easy compared to my kids. And he just melts my heart all the time. I tear up thinking about him not being around forever or my kids not having really strong memories of him.

I didn't choose the suburban life.... The suburban life chose me.
@littlemoxie You're the best. I need to get out of my head and enjoy some time with just DS1. And once Ds2 is here handle it the way I knew I could when we made the decision to TTC #2.
I don't really like GIFs in threads. Usually 1 out of 10 is actually funny and appropriate. And once someone starts posting them that's ALL the thread becomes.
And yes i know now people are going to post a bunch of GIFs lol.

I think she's the one whose creepy husband came on here to harass @natariru right? @this did the call out, maybe she can find the thread.
This is coming off of lurking in an ML thread, but since I don't go there, I'm posting here.
I am baffled by how many people routinely google their kids' teachers.
I don't even remember their first names, so this is obviously something I won't be doing.
In my defense, we have a lot of turnover. There was a 5 month period where I was sure of everyone's name in DS' class, but I'm lost again.
Yeah, when I read that thread I tried to recall my kids' teachers' first names, and I don't know! I couldn't even google them if I wanted to! I'm sure I will learn them at some point since I remember their previous teachers' names. It's still early in the year lol.

I also stay out of Disney threads but that's because I adore Disney but we can't afford to go at the moment, so the threads make me insanely jealous. I like this board, but man, it is kind of a depressing place when your budget is tight.
I need to start more threads for the people who don't have a "fun money" section of their budget and whose travel all revolves around visiting family.

I would totally participate in those threads! I love it here, but this board makes sticking to the budget hard.
