Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Originally from New Orleans but now live about 2 hours southeast of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
DH and I lived in NOLA from 2005-2008. He started law school two weeks before Katrina.
Glad to hear you came back post-K, a number of people did not. Did he go to Tulane or Loyola for law school?
May I ask where you are now? It's odd for people to come to law school in Louisiana and then practice other places -- the Napoleonic Code law vs. Common law issue. I know many people come from Puerto Rico because their laws are related to the Napoleonic Code, but not so much for the rest of the Country.

Loyola. He took the common law side and commissioned in the Army (so we moved around a bit).
It was pretty rough after Katrina (we moved back in Jan), but some how our apartment was spared. It was right off N. Carrollton and Orleans Ave. The apartments across the walk way had to be gutted, the water was probably lapping at our door.

I lived on the WestBank and was largely spared major damage. I worked Downtown across from Federal Court and there was no real problem with the buildings. We came back mid-October, so I was there for most of everything. I was never so happy as when the National Guard checks stopped -- well, when restaurants brought back their original menus, but I think everyone was pleased when that happened.

North of Boston, so I'll hop on the Cambridge, MA train and snuggle in with the #2 spot
Me too! Well, I'm from the Metrowest area, but I've lived in Cambridge before!
Yay for another MA person. I've lived in Boston and am going to be in Cambridge tomorrow night, which seems really close to being part of the Cambridge group
