I gained ~25 lbs both times. The first time, I was fat to start off with. The second time, I was actually at a good weight, but managed not to get huge.
First pregnancy I gained over 38 lbs (and I say over 38 b/c at that point I told them to stop telling me my weight an that was at about 32 or 34 weeks). This time around I have gained 20 so far.

20 lbs by the time I delievered BUT that is skewed because I lost around 10 due to morning sickness in the first tri. and wasn't feeling well enough to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight until around 18-20 weeks. So really its more like I lost 10 and then gained 30.

Started off at a healthy BMI and gained 27 lbs. Most of it piled on at the very end. I threw up most days from weeks 7 until 34ish. I think I would have gained more otherwise.
I am due in 9 days and so far I have gained about 32 pounds - I was at a normal BMI before-hand. I gained a lot early on because of morning sickness, though. I went from a diet very high in veggies and lean meats and low in fat/carbs...to a diet of easy mac, soft pretzels, slurpees and rolls. It also did not help that I was extremely constipated for that time. It was brutal and I totally blame some of my weigh-ins for literally being full of shit, ha.
Once I started to feel better at around 14-15 weeks, I was able to break my carb frenzy and start eating normally again.

With #1, I gained 27 lbs. With #2, my net gain was 22-23 lbs. Half of that was in the first trimester alone, when m/s had me living on clear broth soups and carbs. I was actually up about 27-28 lbs. at one point, but lost 4 lbs. in the last month of the pregnancy because I was too full to ever want to eat.

17 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. But I could barely eat for the first 20 weeks (I actually was down 5 lbs at my 22 week appointment so I ended up gaining that back plus 17 lbs).

I gained 25 with my daughter and 20 with my son. During both pregnancies I was encouraged to gain more weight around 27 weeks and then gained about 8 lbs by my next appointment.

40 lbs. I was actually trying to loose weight I had gained from having 2 misscarriages the year before. As soon as I started eating carbs again in first tri I gained 10 lbs. I wanted to keep it under 25 lbs, but I think you only have so much control over it.
I know how you feel about the comparisons though, there were 2 girls in my office who had babies a few months before me, both only gained about 20 lbs and were back in their pre-pregnancy jeans by 6 weeks pp. I haven't been so lucky.
19 lbs with DS1 and 12 lbs. With DS2. I actively tried to gain more with DS2 at my doctor's urging, and it just didn't happen. I don't know why I don't tend to gain much during pregnancy (I am a normal weight but don't struggle to gain when not pregnant) but my mother was the same way. Although I swear I am already packing it on with this one.

45-50 pounds with each pregnancy. I stayed active and ate healthy throughout and lost all weight both times by 6 mos postpartum. I'm of a healthy weight normally but tall and had good sized babies who nursed tons so I think that is just what my babies needed.
41 lbs. and my OB/Gyn practice was really mean about it. I was exercising and eating a healthy diet, so I really just think that was what my body needed to gain.
I lost about 30 lbs. almost right away and another 20 within the year or so after giving birth (so down 50 # total).
20 pounds, delivered at just over 37 weeks. I gained 10 in the first tri. I was on the GD diet (though I have my doubts as to whether I actually had it, as my testing nbers were always super low and the only high numbers I ever had were during the GD test), and I was super active during pregnancy. I did a 2 hour Master's swimming workout the day before I went into labor.
With DD1 I gained 57 pounds. I started out about 10 pounds over my healthy/ideal weight, and pretty much ate whatever I wanted. I also didn't exercise at all. I looked like a whale at the end.
I lost it all plus 17 pounds of extra and started out way healthier with DD2. I still gained almost 50 pounds, but I ate a lot healthier and was more active. I am almost 8 months post partum and still have 7ish pounds to go. I will still nurse for at least 6 more months so I'm not sure if I will be able to lose it before I wean.
Your body needs to gain weight to carry the child and to prepare for Bf. Even if you don't plan to BF your body doesn't know that!

I gained 40 lb. But 15 of that was water weight from my peri-partum cardio myopathy that started at 35 weeks. Yep, I gained 15 lbs of water weight in 2 weeks. Congestive heart failure is awesome.
